The Parco Naturale di Montecchio in Murata brings together a variety of visitor attractions. In the pine forest, tables and benches are available for breaks and picnics; there is also a small zoo, a play area for children and a sports centre. To plan your visit, you can first decide whether a picnic break, animals, the play area or sports are your main priorities. This selection offers several practical starting points for a visit to the park.

Animal areas and other park attractions

The small zoo has fallow deer, birds and domestic animals. The park also includes a nature area for fallow deer, peacocks, ducks and other birds. Fallow deer and birds are found in both areas; domestic animals are part of the zoo, while peacocks and ducks are in the nature area. If you are particularly interested in animals, you can choose between a small zoo and a dedicated nature area.

The children's play area is another feature of the park. The sports centre offers a different focus, with football, tennis and golf. These three sports give you a practical guide if you want to factor sports into your travel plans. The play area and sports centre are distinct features of the park and can be considered separately when planning.

Trails and walks

There are also several options for walks. Trail No. 15 connects Ca’ Chiavello and Murata; the Parco Naturale di Montecchio also has hiking trails. The first refers to a route between two places, while the second leads into the nature park as a hiking area. When choosing, you can decide whether you want to follow a named connection between places or explore the park's hiking trails.

A walk described in 2017 started in Murata, and its short version returned to Murata. This shorter version went directly from the porta della Rupe to Murata and was 5.5 km long. This distance applies to that historical walk. If you use it as a guide for a tour today, check current trail conditions before setting out. The 5.5 km refers to the short version, not to Trail No. 15.

A historical walk to cultural sites

Another walk, also dating from 2017, went from Murata to places in San Marino City. The Chiesa dei Cappuccini, the Chiesa di San Francesco and the former Clarisse monastery were visited; Dr. Laura Rossi explained the sites. Alongside the park and trail options, this offers a historical example of a culture-focused walk. The cultural sites listed and the attractions of the nature park offer different points of focus for planning your trip.
