Saint-Pierre offers different ways to spend your stay outdoors or enjoying culture: walks take you through a variety of natural landscapes, to viewpoints and along the shore. There is also the Micro-Folie Saint-Pierre and the Musée Héritage. If you’re looking for a hotel, first consider what you’d like to focus on during your time here—for example, trails and wildlife watching, or exhibitions and events.
Walks with different routes
The walk to Cap au Diable starts at the Étang Frecker car park. Follow the Sentier de l’Anse à Henry towards Étang du Cap au Diable. There are two options for the return journey: take the Sentier de l’Anse à Dinan, or go via Étang du Télégraphe to the place known as « tournant de l’Anse à Pierre » or to the Étang Thélot car park. The Sentier de l’Anse à Henry is marked in yellow and green and has benches. Markings and facilities may change; check their condition on site before relying on them.
Another walk starts at the viewpoint on Route de l’Anse à Pierre, goes to Étang du Télégraphe and returns to the Étang Thélot car park via Étang du Trépied. The two route descriptions use different landmarks: the first focuses on Étang Frecker and the choice of two return routes, while the second follows a sequence of the viewpoint, Étang du Télégraphe and Étang du Trépied. You can choose the route that better suits the walk you have planned.
Landscape, wildlife watching and views
At Anse Ă Dinan, the walk passes through three natural environments typical of the archipelago: moorland, subarctic grassland and woodland. Marine mammals can be watched from the shore; sightings are possible but not guaranteed. The combination of open shoreline and varied landscapes makes this a distinct option alongside the walks around the ponds.
In Vallée des 7 étangs, the trail passes through wooded areas where you can watch birds. At the end, there is a view of Île-aux-Marins. At Le Diamant, the circular walk passes Pointe du Diamant and Savoyard Beach. It can be walked in either direction; the wind direction may influence which one is preferable. This gives you a choice of different route highlights: woodland and birds, a viewpoint at the end of the walk, or a circuit around the point and beach.
Culture and special experiences
The Micro-Folie Saint-Pierre combines virtual experiences with a programme of stage events and other activities. 360-degree headsets are available for virtual reality. The venue hosts concerts, talks and performances by local and visiting artists, as well as occasional events and exhibitions. The four areas open twice a week for self-guided visits. Check the current opening hours and programme before your visit.
Visitors must be at least 12 years old to visit without an accompanying adult; visitors aged 13 and over may use the virtual reality area without adult supervision. These age requirements are set by the operator. If you’re travelling with younger visitors, these different age thresholds are relevant to your visit.
The Musée Héritage is housed in a 200-year-old building in the centre of Saint-Pierre. A horseback ride can also be part of your stay: explore the countryside on horseback under the supervision of the local riding club. Depending on the weather, rides may be postponed or cancelled; they may also be moved to the riding hall. So don’t treat this activity as a guaranteed part of your itinerary.
Organise your priorities for finding a hotel
The experiences described offer different options, without requiring you to follow a fixed itinerary. If you’re planning to visit the Micro-Folie, check the current visiting hours; for horseback rides, allow for weather-related changes.
