Perişani lies in an intramontane depression, framed by the ridges of the Munții Negoiului and the Masivul Cozia. The Cozia Massif is a rocky Carpathian formation with unusual rock formations. For planning purposes, it is worth distinguishing between landscapes and routes according to their specific landmarks.
Mountain Scenery and Gorges
Within the commune of Perişani, Pripoare de Jos lies in a gorge through which the Valea Băiașului runs between Culmea Mamurilor and the Masivul Cozia. Near Perişani, the small gorge at Pripoare, on the Băiașu stream, separates the Cozia Massif from the Poiana Spinului ridge. The landscape is therefore shaped not only by its mountain setting, but also by named valleys and ravines. These different landmarks can help you distinguish between landscape destinations and routes when planning.
Hiking Routes with Different Destinations
One hiking route leads from Stâna La Mocirle to Poarta de Piatra. Check its current trail markings on site. Another hiking route leads from Perişani via Poiana Lungă, Clăbucet, Coarneșu and Scara to Negoiu. The BR trail follows a regional route: it crosses the Cozia Massif, connects the Olt Valley with the Drumul Loviștei and passes by Cabana Cozia; the route includes a stop there.
The routes have different focuses: one leads to Poarta de Piatra, another passes through several stops on its way to Negoiu, while the BR trail connects two larger landscape areas. Plan the routes separately, and check current trail conditions before setting out on a specific hike. This is especially important for the trail markings on the route from Stâna La Mocirle to Poarta de Piatra.
Winter option between Perişani and Mlăceni
The “Dalia” ski slope is another option to consider for a winter trip. It is located at an altitude of 900 m between the villages of Perişani and Mlăceni. The slope is 750 m long and an average of 80 m wide. If you include it in your plans, check in advance whether it is currently open.
Church, Monument and Traditional Crafts
The church in Perişani is classified as a historic monument. The wooden church, Biserica de Lemn, in Perişani was built around 1797–1799. Near Pripoare, a monument commemorates the Battle of Posada; it stands at a road junction within the commune of Perişani.
Traditional crafts also give the area a distinct cultural character. These include woodworking and blacksmithing. Products include wooden implements and willow baskets. Alongside the historic buildings and monument, these crafts offer further local points of interest to consider when choosing the focus of your trip.
Getting Around
There is a tourist information and promotion center in the village of Perişani. Its courtyard contains an open-air museum. If you plan to visit, check the current opening hours in advance. The DN7D is the main road in Perişani. As road surfaces can change, it is a good idea to check their condition before you drive.
