Architecture and experiences at Casa Modesta
Casa Modesta was established in Quatrim Do Sul, Olhão, as a rural tourism project to restore a family home with typical rural features. Casa Modesta’s Casa Chã concept reinterprets inherited architectural traditions and traditional building knowledge through contemporary approaches, and is connected to local crafts. The focus is therefore not only on the house, but also on the contemporary reinterpretation of building knowledge and its connection to craftsmanship.
At Casa Modesta, collecting clams and baking bread are among the experiences on offer. These activities have a different focus from Casa Chã’s architectural reinterpretation: here the emphasis is on hands-on experiences, while there it is on building knowledge and design.
Events and bus route 62
The former Festa da Praia dos Cavacos was held there from the beginning of the 20th century until 2005. The Sunset da Praia dos Cavacos had previous editions in 2024 and 2025; an edition was scheduled for 29 August 2026. The two event periods therefore differ considerably. If you plan to attend a future edition, check the dates again.
As a regional transport option, Vamus Algarve bus route 62 runs between Olhão and Moncarapacho via Fuseta and Poço da Areia. If you plan to use this route, check the current route beforehand, as details may change.
