The pier is associated with a visitor tradition: couples attach padlocks to the railing as a reminder of their stay and as a sign of their love. This personal custom differs from Międzyzdroje’s dated architectural and artistic history. Alongside it are a precisely dated spa house history, art venues with different origins, and a named hiking trail and wildlife observations. If you choose Międzyzdroje as your destination, you can first decide whether you would like to focus on cultural history, art venues or nature.

History, art and places to relax

In 1860, Belgian merchant Arnoldt Lejune built the spa house, now the building of the Międzynarodowy Dom Kultury. He laid out the spa park at the foot of the building. The building and park are therefore part of the same historical context. At the same time, two time references meet here: the historic name Spa House and the building’s present-day association with the Międzynarodowy Dom Kultury.

In November 2005, the handprints were moved to the new Aleja Gwiazd under the supervision of Professor Adam Myjak. Aleja Gwiazd is located on the recreation square on ul. Promenada Gwiazd in Międzyzdroje. Unlike the spa house, this is not about the construction of a building, but about moving the handprints to a named location. The two events are clearly distinct in time: 1860 marks the construction, and November 2005 the relocation of the handprints.

Eight sculptures were created as part of a competition; four of them can be seen in Park Rzeźb. This distinguishes the total number from the presentation: the competition describes how the works came about, while Park Rzeźb is where some of them can be seen.

Plac Gwiazd has a rest area with comfortable loungers and benches. This adds a practical detail to the description of the location: unlike historical dates or sculptures, it is about a specific place to sit and relax. If taking a break is one of your travel priorities, this amenity is a clear distinction.

The Oceanarium is also located in Międzyzdroje.

Hiking trail and wildlife observation

The black hiking trail leads from Międzyzdroje via Kawcza Góra and the “Kwasowo” car park; near the Zagroda Pokazowa Żubrów it meets the green hiking trail. The route and its connection are two separate points of reference: Kawcza Góra and “Kwasowo” are on the black trail, while the connection to the green trail is near the bison display enclosure. Check local trail notices before setting out.

At the Woliński Park’s bison display enclosure, visitors can see European bison, deer, wild boar and roe deer; white-tailed eagles are housed in a nearby aviary. The distinction in location is important: the eagles are in the aviary, not at the bison display enclosure. Which animals are visible may vary. Compared with the hiking trail, the focus here is not the route, but observing animals at two separate locations.
