Kopice lies directly on the shore of the Szczecin Lagoon. The area can be explored through three themes: water, routes and protected historic sites. The marina and former cemeteries are in Kopice; Promenada Słońca and the “Krzewina” nature and landscape complex lie between Kopice and Czarnocin. This distinction in location helps you consider the village itself and its immediate surroundings separately.

Views of the water at the marina

The marina in Kopice offers views of sunsets over the lagoon and larger ships travelling along the international E-30 waterway. The marina thus combines a landscape view with a view of shipping traffic. This presents two distinct perspectives on the water: the lagoon as a landscape and the E-30 as a navigated waterway.

Promenada Słońca and routes

The educational nature trail Promenada Słońca runs between Kopice and Czarnocin; it serves educational purposes and provides tourist recreation. At the start of the trail in Kopice, there is a shelter with tables and benches. Along the Promenada, there are 15 information boards, signposts, a wind gauge and nesting boxes. The facilities are spread between the start of the trail and the route itself: alongside the shelter, there is information, wayfinding and other nature-related features along the trail.

Among the named routes, long-distance hiking and cycling should be distinguished. The green long-distance hiking trail ZP-1007 “Szlak Stepnicki” passes through Kopice. The international R-66 “Around the Szczecin Lagoon” cycle route runs along the lagoon through Gąsierzyno and Kopice to Czarnocin. The routes differ in type: ZP-1007 is a long-distance hiking trail, while R-66 is a cycling route. Kopice lies on both routes, but they are not equivalent alternatives. Check the R-66 route before setting out if you plan to use it.

Krzewina natural area

The “Krzewina” nature and landscape complex lies in the immediate surroundings between Kopice and Czarnocin. It protects grey dunes with oak and pine forest, as well as grassland and pioneer communities. This protected landscape of dunes and woodland complements the view of the shoreline; grassland and pioneer communities add further landscape types. Krzewina thus offers a different natural setting from the marina or the nature trail.

Two protected cemeteries

The former cemeteries in Kopice represent different historical periods. The protected former churchyard dates from the first half of the 16th century. The church was demolished after 1945; a row of lime trees and individual willows remain there. The former Protestant cemetery dates from the second half of the 18th century and is designated as protected cultural heritage. The churchyard is therefore older; its later history also includes the demolition of the church. The different dates can thus be associated with the two sites.
