Dorotowo offers different ways to shape your stay: memorial sites, a church tower with its own story, natural monuments and a cycling route each provide a different focus. You can choose between local history, nature and a cycling route through several places, rather than treating the village merely as a place to stay overnight.

Memorial Sites and Church History

A large cross and a memorial stone were erected on a hill in memory of battles. A soldiers’ cemetery was also established in Dorotowo on the shore of Jezioro Wulpińskie. These sites offer different ways to engage with the village’s history: a memorial on the hill and a cemetery by the lakeshore.

The church of Blessed Dorota z Mątów also has a distinctive feature on the local skyline: its tower rises above the buildings of Dorotowo. It was built with donations from current and former parish residents. Another part of the area’s cultural heritage is a former Christmas Eve custom. In the past, farmhands appeared in Dorotowo with a Warmian szemel, accompanied by a musician. These cultural features range from a building to a historical everyday tradition.

Natural Monuments and Cycling Route

Two lime trees along the road beyond Jezioro Kepijko are natural monuments. One has three trunks, with circumferences of 212, 210 and 290 cm; the other has two trunks, with circumferences of 212 and 190 cm. The individual measurements make the trees’ natural features concrete and distinguishable.

An 11 km cycling route runs from Dorotowo via Majdy and Kręsk to Stawiguda. Its length, starting point, intermediate places and destination are all specified. Check route conditions before setting off, as they may change.

A municipal project also envisaged connecting a foot and cycle path with the existing cycling route along ul. Wulpińska in Tomaszkowo, as well as with Dorotowo and Majdy. Village Views and Practical Planning
