The landscape around Brzeżanka is deeply dissected: the deeply cut valley of the Brzeżanka stream and its tributaries shape the area. Paths along ridges and viewpoints overlooking different parts of the landscape are also part of the local scenery. Brzeżanka lies about 3 km from Strzyżów, away from the main transport routes. This offers different themes to consider when planning a trip: a circular cycling route, hiking trails with their own routes, and views over valleys and ridges.
Cycling and Hiking Trails
The cycling route shown on the map “Tras rowerowych zielonych okolic Strzyżowa” passes through Brzeżanka. It runs as a circular route from Strzyżów through Brzeżanka, Bonarówka, Żyznów and Godowa, returning to Strzyżów. The named places provide clear guidance along the route: Brzeżanka lies on a circuit that starts and ends in Strzyżów.
The black hiking trail runs from Czudec via Babica, Połomia and Godowa to the ridge of Brzeżanka, where it meets the green hiking trail. A green-marked PTTK hiking trail runs from Strzyżów to Krosno and passes through a point in Brzeżanka. The trails can be distinguished by their described routes: the black trail is guided by the places along its route and the ridge; Strzyżów and Krosno mark the endpoints of the PTTK trail. By comparison, the cycling route is described as a circuit that returns to Strzyżów.
Views over Valleys and Ridges
From the hamlet of Podlas, the view extends across the Strzyżów-Dynów Foothills: west to Góra Chełm (528 m) and east to Kopalina (464 m), also known as Góra Niebylecka. The panorama also includes the Wisłok Valley between Cieszyna and Nowa Wieś. Both the high points and the valley thus provide reference points for the view from Podlas.
At the open border ridge on the boundary with Wysoka Strzyżowska, above the hamlet of Graniczna, viewpoints offer views of the Kopytko Valley. Here, a different valley is the landmark from the one seen from Podlas. A developed tourist viewpoint in Brzeżanka has been a popular spot for mushroom pickers for several years.
Cultural Heritage and Local Tradition
Brzeżanka’s cultural heritage includes roadside crosses and shrines. A local tradition tells of volunteers gathering in the forest beneath a beech tree to take part in national uprisings. The beech is said to have been called “werbowanym” for this reason. The story links a specific place in the forest with the remembered tale of the volunteers.
Camping Area and Seasonal Appeal
The camping area in Brzeżanka includes a small wooden structure, a viewing tower and an information board about the flora and fauna of the local forests. The camping area is considered a tourist attraction in spring and autumn. Despite the taller trees, the view from the tower extends across the Stobnica Valley and the village of Godowa. Rzeszów is also visible, above the Góra Niebylecka massif. Along with its seasonal appeal, the information board and viewing tower connect the camping area with the local forests and the wider landscape.
