On the left bank of the Kłopotnica stream in Folusz lies the recreation and ecological education park, named after Stanisław Zając, a Senator of the Republic of Poland. The site covers just under 2.5 hectares, borders Magura National Park directly and belongs to its buffer zone. The national park lies in Jasło County and forms a comprehensive nature protection system. Folusz Park contains a marked circular trail and the designated “Dolina Kłopotnicy” ecological education path.
Trails for Different Timeframes
The circular trail in the park is about 2.5 kilometers long and takes around 40 minutes. It is particularly suitable for families with small children. For longer hikes, two routes can be compared by their walking times: The green trail starts in Nowy Żmigród, passes through Mrukowa and ends in Folusz, taking about four and a half hours. Along the way, there are sweeping panoramas of Magura Wątkowska and the area around the Wisłok Valley. The yellow trail runs from Mrukowa via Kotań to Krempna and takes about five hours. Based on the stated times, the two longer hikes differ by around 30 minutes, but their routes and destinations are different.
The red-marked “Na styku kultur” cycling trail runs for 52 kilometers from Jasło to the state border. It passes through Dębowiec, Wola Dębowiecka, Załęże, Osiek Jasielski, Nowy Żmigród, Brzezowa, the Walik Hills, Jaworze, Dusznica, Świątkowa Wielka, Świątkowa Mała, Rozstajne, Grab and Ożenna. This means that a short circuit in the park is complemented by a much longer cycling route and several hiking trails with different stated durations.
Wooden Churches with Different Historical Timelines
Osiek Jasielski is home to a wooden church dating from the 14th century. Its polychrome decoration dates from 1840, and its stone baptismal font from the 16th century. In Pielgrzymka, there is a 19th-century wooden Orthodox church in the Byzantine style; its historic baptismal font is dated to 1163. These dates place different periods of construction and furnishing in relation to one another: in Osiek Jasielski, the polychrome decoration and baptismal font date from centuries after the church was built, while the baptismal font in Pielgrzymka is dated much earlier than the church. Another stop for architecture enthusiasts is the wooden parish church of St. John the Baptist in Załęże, built in 1760.
The Regional Museum in Jasło complements the churches with collections of folk art and crafts related to Jasło and its surroundings. The collections are extensive. The Jasielski Wine Trail offers another way to experience local culture: near Jasło, visitors tour vineyards and taste wines from Jasło. The route includes 16 vineyards; participating vineyards may change over time.
