In Jasień, two different travel interests come together: the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Bieszczady, with its historic furnishings, and hiking trails that connect the village with the area around Ustrzyki Dolne. Church art and trail routes therefore offer different starting points for planning a stay.

Church and Sanctuary in Jasień

The brick church was built in the Baroque style in 1740. The origins of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Bieszczady are a separate matter: it dates to 7 July 1968. The two dates therefore refer to different historical milestones—the building and the Sanctuary.

Among the distinctive furnishings is a historic boat-shaped baptismal font with a sculpture of the Infant Jesus and a cross dating from the mid-18th century. The main altar contains a copy of the image of Our Lady of Bieszczady from Rudki; the original was stolen in 1992. The pulpit also has its own historical features: it is Baroque and has a Rococo sounding board. It is dated to the late 17th century. The pulpit, the church built in 1740 and the cross from the mid-18th century thus represent different historical periods.

Yellow and Blue Hiking Trails

The yellow hiking trail starts at the PKP-PKS station, passes through the town and by the stadium, then climbs to the summit of Gromadzyń at 654 metres. From the Równia ridge, it continues to Jasień and then back through the town to the station. The walking time is estimated at about two hours, excluding breaks. The route description therefore connects several stops in the Ustrzyki Dolne area with the section through Jasień.

The blue hiking trail also starts at the PKP-PKS station, heads towards Brzegi Dolne and climbs the steep slope of Kinia towards the 618-metre summit of Orlik. Before reaching the summit, the trail turns towards Jasień and joins the yellow hiking trail. The stated walking time, excluding breaks, is about 1.5 hours.

The estimated times differ by about half an hour; the description of the blue trail also mentions the steep climb on the slope of Kinia. Walking time and route profile are therefore two distinct factors to consider when planning. Check local trail conditions before setting out; both time estimates exclude breaks.

A Heritage Trail in the Wider Travel Area

In the Ustrzyki Dolne municipality, the Trail of Defensive Structures and Monuments of the Past is the first section of a larger project. It includes First and Second World War trenches on four hills around Ustrzyki Dolne: Kamienna Laworta, Mały Król, Gromadzyń and Orlik. Monuments at the church in Jasień are also part of this trail. This places the local cultural theme in the wider historical context of the municipality, without equating the named hills with Jasień.
