The town hall, built in 1862, and the green-marked Woźniki–Bąki hiking trail represent two distinct points of interest: architectural history in town and a route that passes through several localities before reaching the voivodeship border near Dobrodzień. The area’s history can also be explored through its churches, archaeological traces and a memorial site. When planning your trip, consider what you would like to focus on: historic buildings, or a designated hiking and cycling route as well?

Town Hall, Churches and Architectural History

The town hall is Woźniki’s architectural landmark. Built in 1862, it is a two-storey Neoclassical building with a gabled roof. The history of the parish of St. Catherine’s Church goes back further: it has existed since the 13th century, while the church is mentioned in 1347 and 1490.

The present-day brick Church of St. Catherine was built in 1607–1608 on the site of an earlier wooden church. Its Gothic-Renaissance form was altered by later renovations. It is built of limestone rubble, with brick additions. The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands by the market square, next to St. Catherine’s Church. St. Valentine’s Cemetery Church is the oldest sacred building in Woźniki municipality and is part of the Silesian Wooden Architecture Trail.

Archaeological Traces and Remembrance

The medieval, cone-shaped gord is identified with the original settlement from which Woźniki developed. It is listed in the register of monuments as an archaeological site; metal objects found there are kept at the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom. Woźniki’s urban layout is also listed in the register of monuments as a protected monument.

The Woźniki Battle Monument commemorates the fighting of September 2, 1939. Annual patriotic commemorations are held at the monument. Together with the buildings and the gord, this memorial site adds a specific commemorative dimension to the destination’s historical attractions.

Hiking Trails and Landscape

East of the town centre, Coglowa Góra rises to 359 m above sea level. Woźniki is also close to the extensive Lasy Lublinieckie forests. In the wider region, the area around the Siewniok Reservoir offers easy routes along forest paths suitable for cycling and hiking.

The green-marked Woźniki–Bąki hiking trail starts in Woźniki and passes through several localities before reaching the voivodeship border near Dobrodzień. The same route is also designated as an easy cycling route, with a stated duration of 220 minutes for the cycling option. The duration and difficulty rating apply to the cycling route, not the hike. As route details may change, check the current information before setting out. This allows you to choose between the described hiking route and the timed cycling option according to your preferred activity.
