Forests and water shape the landscape in the municipality of Lubichowo. Forests cover more than 60 percent of the municipality; about half of the forest area belongs to the Bory Tucholskie. Lake Lubichowskie, the Wda and the routes described here each offer a distinct focus for a stay.

Forests, the Wda and birdlife

Lake Lubichowskie lies south of Lubichowo. Its reed-fringed shores provide a habitat for waterbirds, including ospreys, herons, cormorants and cranes. Mute swans, herons, cormorants, ducks and cranes are also found in the municipality. Along the Wda, there are beaver lodges. The lake and river thus bring together different aspects of the local natural environment.

The Wda crosses the municipality for about 17 kilometres. This varied stretch is suitable for kayaking and is also used for fishing. If you are interested in activities on the river, you can include them in your plans. Check local access details for the Wda before setting off.

Routes with different points of interest

A route from Lubichowo reaches the Wda and then continues for about 4.7 kilometres through a wooded landscape. The description links a starting point in Lubichowo with the river and the forest section that follows. As access conditions may change, check the route conditions before setting off.

Another option is the southern section of the Szlak Jezior Kociewskich – odcinek południowy. It is 33.2 kilometres long, runs between Ocypel and Osiek, and was renovated in 2025. The section is almost entirely suitable for cycling tourism. When choosing, consider whether you would prefer a route connected with Lubichowo and the Wda, or a section between Ocypel and Osiek suited to cycling tourism.

Church complex and lime trees

The Roman Catholic parish church complex dedicated to Saint James the Apostle is located at 18 Starogardzka Street. The complex includes the church, the rectory, the cemetery and a fragment of the enclosing fence. The church was completed in 1930–1931. Baroque and Rococo furnishings were transferred from the older church, so the history of its furnishings predates the completion of the present building.

Lime trees are also among Lubichowo’s distinctive features. Two large-leaved lime trees in the cemetery are designated natural monuments; they are about 150 years old. An avenue of ten lime trees in Lubichowo is also designated a natural monument, and these trees are likewise around 150 years old. If you would like to include local history in your travel plans alongside the river and forest landscape, this offers a distinct cultural focus. The avenue has five times as many trees as the two cemetery lime trees.
