Objazda offers two practical starting points for planning a trip: the palace and church, with their distinct architectural forms, and a blue-marked cycling route that passes through the town. Those interested in architecture can explore the buildings’ construction dates, materials, and features; for cyclists, the route of the Rowerowy “Szlak Kolejowy,” its length, and the places it passes are relevant.
Palace and Architectural History
The palace in Objazda was built between 1895 and 1897 under Ernest Kutscher. Its brick structure stands on a stone foundation and follows the Neo-Renaissance style. As a national cultural heritage site, the palace is listed in both the register of monuments and the list of historic monuments. Its construction date, builder, materials, and architectural style offer several concrete points of reference for the area’s architectural history.
A three-storey corner tower is incorporated into the building at its northern corner, and is topped with a hipped roof with a clipped ridge. Its position, height, and roof shape can thus be read as related features of the palace’s design. The palace’s historic surroundings included a park with a pond, as well as numerous trees and shrubs.
Church: Construction and Features
The church in Objazda dates from 1606 and is dedicated to Our Lady of Częstochowa (Matka Boża Częstochowska). Its construction combines timber framing with brick infill and brick masonry walls. In the timber frame, wood forms the structure and bricks fill the spaces between; brick masonry walls are a distinct construction method.
An octagonal wooden lantern with a domed roof rises above the church. The year 1606 also appears on the weather vane. Historic features include a 19th-century organ case and a wooden gallery. A monument to the heroes of the First World War stands in front of the church. The church brings together its construction date, features from a later century, and a separate memorial to the war.
Cycling and Navigation
The 20-kilometre, blue-marked Rowerowy “Szlak Kolejowy” cycling route passes through Bałamątek, Objazda, Gardna Wielka, Siecie, and Smołdzino. This sequence of places situates the route beyond Objazda and shows which other places it passes through.
Nearby, at a junction, the blue-marked “Kolejowym” cycling route turns left towards Objazda, then continues onto the Szlak Zwiniętych Torów to Ustka. This route information supplements the sequence of places on the Szlak Kolejowy with guidance on the turnoff and onward route. Check the junction and signage before setting off.
