Mosty brings together natural features, architectural history and cycling. A good starting point for finding your way around is Aleja Lipowa (Linden Avenue): it leads to the late Baroque manor house and is itself a notable stand of trees. There is also a memorial obelisk, a grey heron reserve on the boundary between Mosty and Mechelinki, and a chestnut tree about 250 years old. These places and topics have different connections. So when planning your stay, you can choose what to focus on: architecture and history, trees and nature, or cycling.

Nature and Notable Trees

Mosty lies in the buffer zone of Nadmorski Park Krajobrazowy (the Coastal Landscape Park). Rezerwat Czapli Siwej (the Grey Heron Reserve) lies on the boundary between Mosty and Mechelinki. These are two distinct geographical contexts: the buffer zone describes Mosty’s location, while the reserve lies on the boundary between the two places. If you are interested in natural features, you can bear this distinction in mind as you find your way around.

Aleja Lipowa comprises 24 small-leaved lime trees, each about 40 years old and designated as natural monuments. Their species, number, approximate age and protected status give the avenue a distinct character. It is also more than a stand of trees: it leads to the manor house, connecting a natural feature with a destination associated with the area’s architectural history. There is also a chestnut tree in Mosty about 250 years old, where you can stop for a moment. Unlike the avenue of lime trees, it is a single tree; together, they offer different perspectives on the natural features of the area.

Manor House and Memorial Site

The late Baroque manor house, Dwór Mosty, dates from the 18th century. It once served as a residence for the abbots of Oliwa; after 1968, it was renovated by the merchant Walter Wirtschaft. The building’s history thus has two points of reference: the 18th century as the period when it was built, and its renovation after 1968. Dwór Mosty is also part of the „Szlak Dworów i Pałaców Północnych Kaszub“ (Trail of Manors and Palaces of Northern Kashubia). This adds a regional cultural-trail context to the history of the house itself.

The obelisk in the centre of Mosty commemorates those who fell defending Kępa Oksywska. Alongside the manor house’s architectural history, remembrance and a specific historical context thus offer distinct cultural points of interest.

Exploring Mosty by Bike

Cyclists have a specific point of reference, too: EuroVelo 10/13 Stage 4 runs through Mosty on local paved roads with light traffic. The road surface and traffic levels are therefore described for this section. The stage offers a different perspective on Mosty from Aleja Lipowa, which leads to the manor house, or the obelisk in the centre of the village. If you are planning your ride, it is a good idea to check the latest stage information.

Choosing what to focus on is easier with these details in mind: the cycling stage is useful for planning a ride, while the manor house, Linden Avenue and obelisk each offer different natural and cultural points of interest in Mosty. You can explore them individually or decide which ones you would like to shape your stay.
