Specific attractions for a trip to Łapy include the brick Church of Saints Peter and Paul, a blue-marked cycle route through the town and a kayak trip on the Narew lasting several hours. The destinations also differ geographically: the observation tower is not in the town of Łapy, but in Uhowo, within the municipality of Łapy. This distinction helps you plan places to visit in the town and activities in the municipality separately, rather than treating them as a single outing.
Church architecture in Łapy
The brick Church of Saints Peter and Paul was built between 1918 and 1927. Its architecture draws on the Polish Renaissance and Baroque. The construction dates place the building clearly in its historical context, while its two stylistic influences provide a precise architectural focus. If sacred architecture is a factor in choosing your destinations, the church offers a cultural landmark in the town and a different focus from the municipality’s route and landscape attractions.
Cycle route through Łapy
The blue-marked Rowerowa Obwodnica NPN cycle route is 90 km long in total and passes through Łapy. This length refers to the entire route, not to a stretch located solely within the town. When planning, it is therefore important to distinguish the section that passes through Łapy from the route’s total length. This lets you put the stretch through the town in context without equating it with the entire cycle route. Check the current route markings locally before setting out.
Kayak trip on the Narew
The Szlak Okrężny z Uhowa route specifies both distance and duration: the kayak trip on the Narew is 10 km long and takes several hours. It starts in Uhowo, goes via Bokiny and Łapy, and returns to Uhowo. Łapy is therefore one section of the trip, not the stated starting point or return point. Unlike the cycle route, which is 90 km long in total, the kayak trip is also stated to take several hours. This helps you plan for it as a separate block of time. Before making specific plans, check how the launch is currently arranged.
Observation tower and Narew landscape in Uhowo
The observation tower is in Uhowo, within the municipality of Łapy and outside the town of Łapy. It was officially opened on 11 July 2023 for educational purposes. The tower is 44 metres high, and 258 steps lead to its highest observation platform. From there, the view extends over, among other things, the Narew floodplains. Its features include observation telescopes, a compass, thermometers, a wind gauge and cameras for observing the landscape. The views and observation instruments provide a tangible connection between its educational purpose and the surrounding area. If you plan to visit the tower, check visitor access in advance.
Sosenka as a local point of interest
Łapy also has a place known as “Sosenka”, where local residents go to relax. Unlike the cycle and kayak routes, Sosenka is a single place with a local recreational character. It adds another place-based aspect to the destinations in Łapy, complementing the longer routes. Together, they offer different options to consider: architecture in the town, a route that passes through Łapy, and destinations elsewhere in the municipality that are geographically distinct from the town.
