If you are looking for accommodation in Danowskie, you can plan your stay around the activity you have in mind: the international R11 cycling route passes through the village, hiking trails start there or pass through it, and a canoe route begins in Danowskie and extends to AugustĂłw. A swimming area on Lake Blizno and seasonal food venues add to the options. Three points are important for planning: route length, means of transport, and whether Danowskie is the starting point or an intermediate stop on your chosen route.

Hiking trails around Danowskie

In the centre of Danowskie, right next to the channel between Lakes Blizno and Blizienko, the red-marked trail to Krusznik and the blue-marked trail to Suwałki begin; the yellow-marked Augustów–Mikaszówka trail also passes through. The 12 km yellow-marked Danowskie–Tobołowo–Sarnetki trail is part of the longer Augustów–Mikaszówka trail.

A much longer hiking option is the 79 km “yellow I” trail. It runs from Augustów via Lake Jezioro Długie (Kalejty), Strękowizna and Uroczysko Powstańce through Danowskie, then to Studziany Las, along the Czarna Hańcza, via Frącki and Rygol to Mikaszówka.

Cycling and route lengths

The 2016 edition of the visitor guide describes the international EURO VELO R-11 cycling route through Danowskie, Monkinie, Bryzgiel, Gawrych Ruda, Sobolewo, Leszczewek, Stary Folwark, Magdalenowo, Czerwony Folwark, Rosochaty Róg and Maćkowa Ruda to Wysoki Most. The section from Danowskie to Wysoki Most is about 30 km long.

For planning purposes, you can compare the lengths and how each route relates to the village: the 12 km trail to Sarnetki starts in Danowskie, “yellow I” runs 79 km through the village, and the roughly 30 km R11 section runs from Danowskie to Wysoki Most. This gives you two hiking trails and one cycling route of different lengths.

Canoeing to AugustĂłw

A 35 km canoe route begins in Danowskie and follows Lake Blizno onto the Blizna River, then the Rospuda River, and continues via Lake Necko to Augustów. It is recommended that you also paddle through the channels to Lakes Blizienko and Tobołowo. Check the current route and markings before setting out; for the canoe route, you should also check conditions before your trip.

Swimming area and seasonal cuisine

Danowskie has a well-developed swimming area on Lake Blizno. The municipal beach has a waterslide. Check the current status of the swimming area and waterslide before visiting.

Seasonal food venues serve fish dishes or regional specialties such as kartacze, kiszki, babki ziemniaczane and soczewiaki. As the selection is seasonal, check which dishes are available for your travel dates.
