Pomiechówek offers several reasons to plan your trip around what interests you most: Fort III for history, Dolina Wkry Park for play and nature activities, and trails for walking and cycling. The surrounding municipality also offers kayaking routes on the Wkra. The destinations also differ in their visiting conditions: visits to the fort depend on announced dates, some park attractions may operate seasonally, and the routes vary in length and time required.

Fort III and Dolina Wkry Park

Fort III was built between 1883 and 1888 as part of the first ring of forts. The site is closed to regular visits; tours are possible on announced dates. Before travelling, check the foundation’s latest announcements and plan your visit to the fort around a date listed there.

Dolina Wkry Park includes a ropes course, a climbing wall, a zip line over the Wkra, the Wiking playground, and a beach with a promenade. Some attractions may operate seasonally, so check in advance whether the attraction that matters to you will be open during your travel dates. The park’s nature trail features educational huts, a butterfly meadow, a maze about burrowing animals, and animal models made from willow branches. This brings together activities and several specific stops focused on nature and animal life.

Getting There and Trails

Pomiechówek is accessible via the Warszawa–Działdowo railway line. The station is in the town centre on ul. Modlińska. As timetables may change, check the latest connections before departure. The station is about 300 m from Dolina Wkry Park. The walking route follows ul. Modlińska, passing shopping pavilions, a square, and the post office. At the statue of Saint Anne on the corner of ul. Modlińska and ul. Nasielska, turn right onto ul. Nasielska. Check the directions before setting out, as routes and landmarks may change.

The Yellow Hiking Trail is about 12 km long, starts in the centre of Pomiechówek, and runs through the forest. For cyclists, the Nadwkrzański Cycling Route passes through the town. This gives you two distinct options for planning: a forest walk of a defined length and a cycling route through Pomiechówek.

The Wkra and Kayaking Routes

The final stretch of the Wkra runs through Pomiechówek Municipality and is recommended there for water recreation. The municipality describes the current as gentle and the Wkra as family-friendly. This assessment refers to the municipality and is a general characterization of the river.

Two kayaking routes ending in Pomiechówek are described: from Joniec, 26 km and approximately six hours; and from Borkowo, 15 km and an estimated four hours. The routes therefore differ both in their starting point and the time required. The Borkowo route is 11 km shorter and is estimated to take about two hours less than the route from Joniec.

Compare Routes and Time Required

The park is about 300 m from the station; the Yellow Hiking Trail is around 12 km long, while the kayaking trips are estimated to take about four or six hours. You can compare a short local connection, a hiking route, and multi-hour river routes by their scale. Comparing distance and duration provides a concrete basis for choosing a kayaking route without treating the two starting points as equivalent.
