Podkowa Leśna offers a range of attractions for a stay: historic wooden houses and museum history, as well as trails in the Młochowski Forest and a natural city park. For planning, it helps to distinguish between these themes and decide whether cultural history or time outdoors should take center stage.

Wooden houses with different stories

The single-storey wooden house “Zabytek” is considered the oldest house in Podkowa Leśna. It is a remnant of the Stanisławów summer colony dating from the late 19th century. The wooden villa “Aida” has a different architectural and use history: Stanisław Wilhelm Lilpop had it built around 1900 in the Swiss style as a hunting lodge. In the 1920s, it became the Iwaszkiewicz family’s summer house. By comparison, Zabytek focuses on the early summer colony, while Aida tells the story of the transformation from hunting lodge to summer house. Together, the two houses offer different starting points for exploring the town’s cultural history.

Stawisko: Museum and salon tradition

The museum at Stawisko is dedicated to Anna and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz; its interior has retained its original character. After the writer’s death in 1980, Stawisko became state property in accordance with his expressed testamentary wishes. The tradition of the literary and musical salon is also continued there. The museum, the house’s history and the salon tradition together form a cultural focus, while Zabytek and Aida each have their own architectural and use histories. Stawisko Park covers 16 hectares.

Trails in the Młochowski Forest and city park

The Młochowski Forest is crisscrossed by numerous well-marked and well-maintained hiking, cycling and horse-riding trails, making it suitable for weekend recreation year-round. The map of Podkowa Leśna and the Młochowski Forest shows three well-marked circular cycling routes: a short, a medium and a long one. In winter, these routes also serve as cross-country ski trails. The trail options therefore differ not only in their designated length, but also by season and intended activity.

An educational trail in the Podkowa Leśna and Młochowski Forest area has 14 stops. They explain natural and cultural aspects of the places along the route. Podkowa Leśna’s city park offers a different focus: it serves adults as a place for walks and children as a place to play in the snow in winter, when conditions allow. The park is a somewhat neglected, largely natural mixed forest, dominated by pines and oaks.

If you are looking for a hotel in Podkowa Leśna, you can start by considering which experiences you want to shape your days. For cultural history, there are the houses Zabytek and Aida, as well as the Stawisko Museum and its salon tradition. For outdoor activities, the forest trails, three circular cycling routes and educational trail offer different options. The city park adds walks and—when there is snow—winter play to the selection.
