Puławy brings together several points of cultural and historical interest: park buildings belonging to the Muzeum Czartoryskich, an exhibition in the palace and a former palace chapel. When planning your visit, it is worth distinguishing the seasonal opening times of the park buildings from the city’s other attractions.

Czartoryski Park and Palace

The historic buildings Świątynia Sybilli, Dom Gotycki and Domek Aleksandryjski are located in the park of the Muzeum Czartoryskich. All three are open to visitors from June to September. The exhibition in the palace occupies five rooms on the ground floor and two upper floors. This offers different cultural and historical perspectives: individual historic buildings in the park and an exhibition spread across several levels of the palace.

Seasonal visiting hours for Świątynia Sybilli and Dom Gotycki are listed as June 1 to September 30: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., with a break from 1:00 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. Check the hours before your visit. Domek Aleksandryjski is also open to visitors from June to September; the stated visiting hours apply to Świątynia Sybilli and Dom Gotycki.

Puławy’s cultural history

At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, thanks to Adam Kazimierz and Izabela Czartoryska, Puławy was an important cultural centre and was called “Polish Athens.” This historical nickname places the buildings of Czartoryski Park within the city’s broader cultural history.

The Kościół pw. Wniebowzięcia NMP in Puławy is a former palace chapel founded by Prince Adam Kazimierz Czartoryski. The Neoclassical building was designed by architect Christian Piotr Aigner; the chapel was consecrated in 1815. Its former function, patronage and Neoclassical design offer a distinct perspective on Puławy’s architectural history.

Puławy offers additional cultural attractions within the wider Puławski destination. The Muzeum Czartoryskich currently displays fine paintings, militaria, decorative arts and historically significant keepsakes. The museum also offers themed walks with a museum specialist, exploring the historical facets of Puławy and the history of the Puławy garden. The collection and the walks offer different perspectives: the museum focuses on exhibits, while the walks focus on the history of the city and its gardens.

Another attraction in the wider Puławski destination is the Muzeum Badań Polarnych in Puławy. It is Poland’s first institution dedicated to the Arctic and Antarctic. Its educational programme for children and young people includes museum lessons and science workshops and runs throughout 2026.

The wider Puławski destination also offers a range of walking routes and nature education. The blue-marked Nadwiślański Trail passes through Puławy, via Gołąb, and continues to Dęblin; it is 112 km long. In Puławy’s municipal forest, there is an educational trail with themed stops, as well as a green classroom with benches, waste bins and information boards. The trail and the educational path therefore differ considerably in their format: a long, marked route on the one hand, and stations for learning on the other.
