Tarasówka is a hill above the northeastern part of Małe Ciche, offering panoramic views of the Tatra Mountains. The area combines this distinctive landscape with summer excursions, a distinctive architectural and cemetery culture, and activities related to skiing and cycling.
Summer excursions and Tarasówka
In summer, Małe Ciche serves as a starting point for excursions into the Tatra Mountains. Destinations mentioned include Rusinowa Polana, Hala Gąsienicowa, Morskie Oko and Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich. These destinations are located in several parts of the Tatra Mountains. For your planning, the season is particularly important: the connection to these destinations is described specifically for summer.
Tarasówka can also be considered both a scenic viewpoint and a landmark for a cycling tour. The Małe Ciche–Tarasówka mountain bike route is 16 km long, with a stated elevation gain of 230 m. These two figures provide distinct points of reference to consider when planning your own tour.
Wooden church, cemetery and chapel
A small wooden church stands on a hill beside the main road. The cemetery in Małe Ciche also has a distinctive craft tradition: it is considered one of the few Gorale cemeteries in Podhale where every headstone is handmade from natural materials such as rock, wood or iron. These entirely handcrafted headstones set the cemetery apart within the region’s cemetery culture.
The Chapel of St. Bartholomew stands in the Tarasówka clearing, east of the road that runs through Małe Ciche. It is built of wood and stone. Bartłomiej Pawlikowski began its construction; the chapel was built between 1906 and 1915. Tarasówka is therefore associated not only with the panorama and mountain bike route, but also with a clearly dated landmark in the area’s history.
Skiing, chairlift and Sky Walk
Stacja Narciarska Małe Ciche offers gentle blue runs considered suitable for families with children. The resort has a fast four-seater chairlift, 1,200 m long with an elevation gain of 213 m, as well as another four-seater chairlift, 750 m long. Lift operations may vary by season, so check which lifts are running on your travel dates before setting off. Małe Ciche also has a ski school. If interested, confirm availability directly with the provider.
You can take the chairlift up and get off directly below the Sky Walk structure; seasonal lift operations may also be a factor here. The Sky Walk Heart of Poronin in Małe Ciche features two slides and a suspended playground with more than 80 square metres of “spider webs.” In addition to the ski runs, the Sky Walk in Małe Ciche also has slides and a suspended playground.
