Wał-Ruda combines nature and forest themes with memories of Operation “Trzeci Most” and the life of Blessed Karolina Kózkówna. There are information boards at the educational point on the road to Pojawie; a monument stands opposite. The Karolina Kózka Martyr’s Path leads from the Blessed’s house to a historic site in the forest. These different themes offer concrete starting points for planning your trip. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Wał-Ruda, you can first consider whether nature and forests, the history of the Second World War, or the sites associated with Karolina Kózka are especially important to your stay.

Nature and Forest Themes at the Educational Point

There is an educational point in Wał-Ruda on the road to Pojawie, with information boards about nature and forests. Benches and tables are also provided, including some under a shelter. This makes the site a place for learning as well as somewhere to sit and take a break. There is a parking area near the educational point. Opposite stands a monument commemorating Operation “Trzeci Most” during the Second World War. Their facing positions are a concrete point of reference: nature and forest themes and historical remembrance are placed directly opposite one another here.

Commemorating Most III

A large granite boulder on the road from Wał-Ruda to Zabawa commemorates Most III. The names “Most III” and “Trzeci Most” refer to the same operation. The stone bears the inscription “Oni ocalili Londyn”; it also features a cast-iron symbol of Fighting Poland. The inscription and emblem are part of the memorial’s physical form, while its name establishes its historical connection.

House, Chapel, and Martyr’s Path

The reconstructed house of Blessed Martyr Karolina Kózkówna in Wał-Ruda consists of two rooms. One serves as a museum and contains, among other things, Karolina’s bed, a wooden kneeler, her prayer and religious books, and everyday objects. The other room is a chapel, used as a place for prayer and rest. Pilgrims in particular use the chapel as the starting point of the Karolina Kózka Martyr’s Path. The path leads from the Blessed’s house to the place in the forest where she was attacked by a Russian soldier. Thus, it connects the house as its starting point with a named historic site in the forest. The museum, chapel, and path highlight different aspects of the Karolina theme: personal belongings, prayer and rest, and remembrance of the historic site in the forest.

Cycling Route and Historic Path

The green Tarnów Mościce–Ciężkowice cycling route also passes through Wał Ruda. Its function differs from that of the Karolina Kózka Martyr’s Path: the cycling route places Wał Ruda along a named route, while the Martyr’s Path leads from the house to the historic site in the forest. The two details therefore answer different planning questions: one describes where the cycling route runs; the other gives the starting and ending points of a path with a historical connection. If you are choosing a place based on a route, you can first decide which of these connections matters more to your trip.
