Grzechynia lies by the Grzechynka stream, amid wooded hills and meadows. A blue hiking trail, the Beskid landscape and several historic figures give the village a distinctive character. If you want to include nature and local history in your choice of destination, you will find concrete points of interest here: a named route and cultural sites in various parts of the village.

A Streamside Location and Beskid Landscape

Grzechynia lies in the southwestern part of the Maków Podhalański Gmina, by the Grzechynka stream, a left-bank tributary of the Skawa. This location places the village by the water and also within the course of the Skawa river system. The landscape of the Żywiec and Maków Beskids includes gentle, wooded hills, clear streams and scenic meadows. Its character is shaped by more than just forest: meadows and water are also part of it. If you are choosing a destination based on nature, you can consider this mix an important part of your decision.

The Blue Hiking Trail

The blue hiking trail runs from Maków Podhalański through Grzechynia Zagórze and Ostra Góra to the eastern slope of Magurka. The route is about 7.5 kilometres long and takes approximately 2.3 hours. Together, the distance and duration provide a practical guide for planning the hike. The route is also clearly described: its starting point, intermediate locations and destination show how Grzechynia is incorporated into it. The hike therefore offers a distinct focus for your travel plans, while the historic figures add a local cultural dimension. This lets you consider nature and cultural heritage separately, without combining them into a single activity.

Figures in Different Parts of the Village

The figures in Mędralówka and Tatarówka offer a comparison across time and place. Above the Mędralówka part of the village, next to the Chapel of Our Lady of Częstochowa, stands a figure of Christ falling beneath the Cross, dating from 1778. In Tatarówka stands a figure of Saint Joseph dating from 1900. The dates place the two figures in different centuries, while the location details identify them with two different parts of the village. Their subjects, dates and locations provide concrete points of reference for distinguishing these cultural sites.

Another cultural point of interest is on Działówka, where a wooden bell tower stands. It houses the bell “św. Kazimierz,” donated in memory of the clergyman Kazimierz Jancarz, the chaplain to “Solidarity” in Nowa Huta. A sculpture of Jesus in contemplation also stands in a niche. The bell tower, bell and sculpture bring together architecture, dedication and religious imagery in one place.

Community Culture and Sport

The Koło Gospodyń Wiejskich in Grzechynia has been active since March 2003 and is based in the Świetlica at the Dom Kultury. Its members take part in county-level competitions, including those for harvest wreaths and regional dishes. The group also organises gatherings, meetings with residents and social events featuring traditional food, artistic programmes, and newly composed songs and poems. These community activities and regionally inspired contributions complement the individual cultural sites. Together, they offer a broad picture of Grzechynia’s culture, from its figures and bell tower to organised local cultural activities.

An Orlik sports complex is located beside the WKS “GROM” Grzechynia sports field. It adds another local facility to the area’s natural and cultural points of interest.
