Two trails in Uhryń have different focuses: the geological trail runs for 2 km along the Uhryń Stream, while the nature trail of the Count Adam Stadnicki Foundation covers about 22 km. They differ in both subject and scale. Would you rather explore the geological landscape beside the stream or take a much longer route with several named destinations? The two trails offer different ways to find your bearings.

Rock formations along the Uhryń Stream

The geological trail follows a deeply incised, winding stretch of the lower stream. Along almost the entire route, the water of the Uhryń Stream has exposed outcrops of folded rocks. They date from the Early Eocene and belong to the Sącz Subunit of the Magura Formation. The Uhryń Stream valley is an especially good place to see the Paleogene of the Sącz Zone; the rock profiles make this geological character tangible along the course of the stream.

The Magura Nappe is also part of the trail’s subject: its formations shape the geological structure of the Beskid Sądecki. In this way, the trail connects local rock outcrops with a broader geological context. It also aims to bring visitors closer to both the living and non-living natural world. The focus is therefore firmly on Earth’s history, while nature remains part of the same educational trail concept.

Stops, timing and navigation

The geological trail has 11 stops. The walk takes about 1.5 hours; around 10–15 minutes is allocated for reading the information at the stops. These times refer to different parts of the visit: walking time on the one hand and reading time on the other. Use them as a rough guide, not as a minute-by-minute schedule.

The trail is marked with the traditional white-and-green square symbol used for educational trails; markings may change over time. Markings may change over time, and trail conditions can also vary. So check the current conditions locally before setting out.

A longer route through Uhryń

The nature trail of the Count Adam Stadnicki Foundation covers a different scale: its roughly 22 km route runs from Łabowa through Uhryń to Hala Łabowskie, then on to Hala Pisana and Makowica. The route then descends into the Życzanów Valley near Rytro. These places give the trail a much wider geographical scope than the 2 km geological trail. For planning, both the subject you are interested in and the route length are useful points of comparison.

Forest protection nearby

The Uhryń Nature Reserve lies near Uhryń. It protects beech and fir stands about 230 years old, characteristic of the former Carpathian primeval forest. The nature trail passes through this nature reserve.
