The local profile includes the Dąbrowski Palace, the manor house and park complex, and various cycling routes. The Dłubnia Landscape Park also places the area within the Dłubnia Valley.

Palace, manor house and local history

The Dąbrowski Palace was built to a design by Teodor Talowski. The Neo-Romantic park was created at the same time, based on an older garden. The manor house and park complex on Dąbrowskich Street comprises a manor house, a stable, a park and a derelict granary. At the palace, the design and creation of the park are the main focus; the complex can be explored through its different components. The two sites thus offer different perspectives on Michałowice’s cultural history.

The parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Poland, is also associated with a specific historical year: it was built in 1963. In September of that year, Bishop Karol Wojtyła consecrated the Church of Our Lady, Queen of Poland.

An annual commemorative event adds a regular date to the history of the buildings: every year on 6 August, a march commemorates the visit of the First Cadre Company to the manor house in Michałowice. A gathering and refreshments in the manor house gardens follow. If you would like to plan your trip around this commemoration, 6 August is the key date to note.

Kino Za Rogiem Michałowice arranges film screenings by request for groups, schools, kindergartens and institutions. If you are planning a screening for one of these groups, arrange the date in advance.

Cycling routes and their landmarks

The green-marked Widokowy Cycling Route is 24.2 kilometres long in total; 13.2 kilometres of it run through the Michałowice municipality. It leads to Michałowice via Podedworze Street and passes the manor house and park complex on Dąbrowskich Street. After the manor house, the route follows Nad Dłubnią Street, crosses the Dłubnia over a bridge and then continues through meadows. This makes it possible to distinguish the route’s total length from the section within the municipality.

The Dłubnia Valley Cycling Route offers a different point of reference: after the manor house, it follows Nad Dłubnią Street and climbs along Koźlica Street to the 279-metre-high Koźlica hill before descending to Masłomiąca. The two route descriptions therefore emphasize different points: the Widokowy Cycling Route gives the total length and the section within the municipality; on the Dłubnia Valley Cycling Route, the named high point serves as a landmark.

The Dłubnia Landscape Park

Established in 1981, the Dłubnia Landscape Park lies around the Dłubnia and encompasses the valley and the neighbouring upland. It stretches from the river’s sources near Trzyciąż to Raciborowice; Michałowice is one of six municipalities within the park. Visitors can see historic churches, manor houses and manor house parks within its boundaries. The park’s landscape also includes chalk and limestone rock formations, as well as springs with fissure and karst water. The park thus connects the Dłubnia with a wider landscape that spans several municipalities.
