Luboń brings together the Warta and green spaces with recreational activities and places connected to industrial history and remembrance. You can tailor your stay to your interests: nature and water, outdoor activities or the history of the town.
Four Places, Four Perspectives on Luboń
The “Śladami historii Lubonia” trail passes through four places that illustrate nature, recreation, industry and the local landscape. It offers a thematic introduction to different sides of Luboń, rather than focusing on just one subject.
Each of the four places has a themed information board with local information and directions to help you continue your visit. The boards also show a map of the Nadwarciański Szlak Rowerowy between Poznań, Luboń and the Wielkopolski Park Narodowy. This gives you both local insights and an overview of the route of the cycling trail.
The Warta, Green Spaces and Outdoor Activities
Lasek Majoński is a green space in Luboń used for walking, outdoor activities and nature observation. Lasek Majoński has an educational and recreational trail, as well as the first 18-hole disc golf course in the Poznań area. Marked posts there are used for orienteering training and map games as part of the “Zielony Punkt Kontrolny” concept.
The Warta flows through Luboń and offers good conditions for walking and kayaking. Flatwater kayaking in stable touring kayaks is also suitable for families. At the same time, the Warta near Lasek Majoński is an important ecological corridor that provides shelter for numerous fish, bird and mammal species.
The Nadwarciański Szlak Rowerowy is another way to explore the landscape along the river: the Warta and the adjoining natural areas in Luboń form part of the cycling trail, which runs through Kocie Doły to the Wielkopolski Park Narodowy.
At Plaża Miejska, visitors can use sun loungers, hammocks, pallets and blankets during the summer season. Near the city beach is the municipal stadium complex, with a sports field and an artificial running track. There is also a training area, a beach soccer pitch and a street workout zone nearby. As seasonal offerings and sports facilities may change, check the latest information before your visit.
Industrial History and Remembrance
Founded in 1979, Muzeum Martyrologiczne w Żabikowie looks after sites and objects that have survived from the Nazi camps operated between 1941 and 1945. The former camp site in Żabikowo is open to visitors. The museum has two permanent exhibitions: “Więzienie Policyjne Policji Bezpieczeństwa oraz Wychowawczy Obóz Pracy w Posen-Lenzingen” and “Obozy pracy Przymusowej dla Żydów w Kraju Warty 1941–1943”.
Further traces of industrial history can be found in Park Siewcy and on the site of the former Koehlmann factory. Park Siewcy is part of the factory settlement built around 1908 for the managerial and technical staff of the chemical factory in Luboń. The Siewca monument in the park is among the few works by Marcin Rożek that have survived to this day. A few listed buildings and houses from the former factory settlement remain on the site of the former Koehlmann factory.
