In Biedrusko, nature education, playful exploration and cultural history are different themes to choose from. At the “Łysy Młyn” Forest Education Centre, there is an educational trail around the pond and a forest laboratory; Pałac Biedrusko is home to a museum and is surrounded by a park. The Chludowo–Suchy Las–Biedrusko section is also relevant for cyclists: connected cycle paths make it possible to ride the route without entering the military training area.
Forest and water education at Łysy Młyn
The educational trail at the Forest Education Centre is called “Rola wody w przyrodzie,” or “The Role of Water in Nature” in English, and runs around the pond. Its theme and route go hand in hand: water is the focus, while the pond is also the route’s geographical reference point. The experience therefore focuses on a specific nature topic. The “Łysy Młyn” watermill building also houses a forest laboratory. This means there are two different educational formats: an outdoor trail that goes around the pond, and a laboratory in the mill building. The distinction between water and forest themes can help you choose if you are interested in nature education but prefer one format over the other.
Cycling: Chludowo–Suchy Las–Biedrusko
The connected cycle route makes it possible to ride this section without entering the military training area. Check local route conditions before setting off.
A family game or a historical tour
The outdoor family game “Biedrusko. W cieniu poligonu” can be played independently at any time. The quest “O niepodległości i wojskowości w Biedrusku” is a self-guided tour of Biedrusko. It covers the Poles’ battles during the Greater Poland Uprising, as well as the history of numerous local buildings and monuments. The formats therefore differ in how they are played and what they cover: the family game is flexible and can be played independently, while the quest has a historical focus. If you base your choice on your interests, you can choose between a playful activity and a look at local history.
Palace, museum and park
Biedrusko Palace was built between 1877 and 1880 for Albrecht Otton von Treskow by Ludwik Huhn in the Neo-Renaissance style. Pałac Biedrusko houses the Museum of Military and Interior Architecture (Muzeum Wojskowe i Architektury Wnętrz). The park around the palace includes an amphitheatre, a lovers’ gazebo, ponds and a fountain. The construction period, commissioner, architect and style provide architectural context for the building. The museum and park add their own themes and features: the museum focuses on the military and interior architecture, while the park includes both architectural features and bodies of water. This offers different ways to view the palace: as a building with a specific history, as the home of a museum, and in relation to its surrounding park.
