Racot offers a clear focus for an exploratory trip: palace history and horse breeding can be explored through different periods and specific riding activities. The town’s history spans the 18th-century Neoclassical palace, political and cultural milestones, and the stud farm’s present-day offerings. You can therefore shape your stay around culture, horses or a combination of both.

Palace, Church and Local History

The palace of the princes Jabłonowski dates from the 18th century and is Neoclassical in style. It was designed by Dominik Merlini. In 1921, the palace was granted the status of a residence of the Presidents of the Republic of Poland. Another turning point came in 1928, when the Racot State Stud was established on the palace estate. This should be distinguished from the history of the local horse-breeding operation, which dates back to 1925. The two years therefore refer to different historical milestones.

Theatre history is also part of the palace’s cultural profile. One of Poland’s first court theatre stages was located there, and works by Józef Wybicki and Wojciech Bogusławski were performed. This offers a distinct way to explore Racot’s history, alongside the palace’s political role and the stud farm’s later development.

The park adjacent to the palace was laid out in the English style. The complex also includes the church in Racot: it is the palace chapel associated with the Jabłonowski family and is dedicated to Saints Stanislaus and George. Over the course of its history, the church served both the Catholic and Protestant communities. A Protestant congregation in Racot was established on 18 March 1817. These milestones connect local history with different religious traditions without limiting it to a single period.

Another specific link to history can be found in the palace coach house. A preserved carriage is displayed there, in which Ignacy Jan Paderewski travelled in December 1918. This detail complements the architectural and theatrical history with a named historical connection from the early 20th century.

Horse Breeding and Riding Activities

The Racot Stud offers recreational riding and riding lessons for beginners. Lessons are available to adults and children alike. Children can also enjoy 20-minute pony rides under the supervision of an instructor, during which they do simple exercises. The duration and supervision clearly distinguish this activity from riding lessons and recreational riding.

The equestrian facilities include an indoor riding arena, an outdoor riding arena, a hippodrome and park areas suitable for riding. The activities described therefore encompass different forms of riding and several designated areas. The stud also offers hippotherapy for people with health problems. If you compare Racot’s equestrian activities, recreational riding, beginner lessons, supervised pony rides for children and hippotherapy are all distinct offerings.

Accommodation and Traditions

The palace now houses a modern training and leisure centre. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, the palace, park, church and stud farm also provide the cultural setting for your trip to Racot.

The stud farm’s long-standing traditions include Hubertus, Powitanie wiosny, Majówka and Mikołajki. These events add a distinct cultural and event focus to Racot, alongside its palace history and riding activities.
