Biddinghuizen offers a variety of reasons to stay: Walibi Holland and Lowlands are two major highlights, alongside hiking and cycling routes with clearly distinct routes and themes. You can tailor your trip to whether you are interested in attractions, a festival, a tour through nature or a ride across the water.

Attractions and festival dates

Walibi Holland offers 38 attractions for children, families and thrill-seekers. The number may change over time. The attractions are divided into three main categories: “Kids,” “Family” and “Thrill.” This classification gives you a quick overview of their different focuses when planning a visit or taking different preferences into account together.

The three-day Lowlands festival takes place in Biddinghuizen every August; the exact dates vary from year to year. The programme also differs each year and includes music, theatre, film, comedy, literature, street theatre, science and visual arts. For the 2026 edition, the Evenemententerrein Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen was scheduled to serve as the festival grounds. Venues can change between editions. If the festival is the reason for your trip, check the dates and information for the relevant edition before finalising your plans.

Hiking trails and natural areas

In the Spijk-Bremerberg area near Biddinghuizen, the 7.5-kilometre Steltloperroute runs along the Spijkvijver. It starts at the De Spijk car park on the access road, Oldebroekerweg, and is marked in orange. The 2.2-kilometre Laarzenpad, marked in yellow, also runs through Spijk-Bremerberg. The significant difference in length makes the two trails different options when planning your outings. Markings and access may change; check the information before setting out.

Harderbos is one of Flevoland’s most diverse and well-developed natural areas. A family-friendly walking trail runs through it, with winding paths, wobbly bridges and a rope ferry. A lookout tower and picnic area add to the route. Individual facilities may change. The trail therefore brings together several different features, so you do not have to compare outings based on distance alone.

Greppelveld offers a different landscape: a small natural area on Lake Drontermeer, opposite Elburg. Its former herb-rich grassland is an important breeding ground for meadow birds, including the black-tailed godwit, Eurasian curlew, common snipe and corncrake. Greppelveld is also home to the Kop van ’t Ende, Elburg’s old harbour head. Here, a natural area and a tangible piece of local history sit side by side.

Exploring by bike

The “Polderroute Biddinghuizen” cycling route starts at the TOP Harderbos tourist transfer point in Biddinghuizen. Along the way, it follows the coast, passes a beach and runs through woodland, as well as passing the historic Lovink pumping station. This combination of landscape and engineering heritage gives the route a different focus from the hiking trails in the Spijk-Bremerberg area.

For a trip across the water, the seasonal Veluwerandveer bicycle ferry connects Biddinghuizen and Nunspeet and carries bicycles. The crossing takes about 15 minutes and offers views across Lake Veluwe. As the service is seasonal and sailing details may change, check the timetable for your planned travel period.

Plan your stay around your plans

For Lowlands, the August dates and information for the relevant edition are key; for a cycling trip, you can factor the seasonal ferry service into your plans. For walks, you can compare the 2.2-kilometre Laarzenpad with the 7.5-kilometre Steltloperroute. This lets you consider the occasion, planned activities and the time you have available before choosing accommodation.
