Tarvydų sodyba, a rural tourism homestead, is located in Jomantų village; a section of the Camino de Santiago leads to Jomantai. Cultural attractions in Pajūris Eldership and Pakisis, as well as recreational facilities in Pajūris, each offer a different focus. You can therefore tailor your stay to the rural setting, a longer hike, or historic sites.
Rural accommodation in Jomantų village
Tarvydų sodyba is set in natural surroundings by a pond. There are gazebos on the grounds, which are also suitable for outdoor football and volleyball. Camping is also possible. The parking area can accommodate around 50 vehicles. The distinctive features of this rural accommodation are therefore primarily its setting and outdoor options.
Parking capacity may change. Confirm the facility details before booking, and check before your trip whether tent camping is available on your dates. If you are looking for accommodation with outdoor activities, you can take these points into account when planning.
Cultural history and directions
The Lileikėnai-Kunigiškiai hillfort, also known as Švedkalnis or Jomantų pile, is a state-protected cultural heritage site in Pajūris Eldership. The three names can help you identify this single cultural monument. Another hillfort is Pakisis, dated from the 1st millennium to the beginning of the 2nd millennium.
A road from the Pajūris–Jomantai road leads to Pakisis Hillfort. At the entrance to Jomantai, turn east; after 800 metres, continue northeast, and another 500 metres will take you to a homestead. The remains of Pajūris Manor offer a separate historical point of interest, including a granary, a brewery building, and remnants of the park.
The Camino de Santiago and a canoe route
The Adomavas–Pajūris–Didkiemis section of the Camino de Santiago continues to Jomantai. It is rated easy, but covers 30 kilometres and is listed as taking six hours. When planning your day, consider both the difficulty rating and the duration and distance: “easy” does not replace the need to plan for a six-hour section.
The canoe route on the Jūra offers a different way to travel. It starts in the village of Vidžiaugiai and runs 16 kilometres to Pajūris. The two options therefore differ in their mode of travel and key details: the Camino de Santiago section leads on foot to Jomantai, while the canoe route connects two named points on the river.
Pajūris: river and recreation
The Pajūris recreation campsite is on the left bank of a bend in the Jūra. The Pajūris recreation area includes shelters, sports grounds, parking, sandy beaches, a children’s playground, a book house, and walking paths. It offers different kinds of recreation, from spending time by the water to walking or playing sports. Check the condition of the facilities before your visit.
The recreation area also has a canoe landing stage that can serve as the starting or finishing point of a canoe trip. If you want to include it in your trip, confirm its condition and access before you travel. The 16-kilometre route from Vidžiaugiai to Pajūris and the possible use of the landing stage are two separate points to consider; do not plan them as a connected trip without checking first.
