Neyagawa is worth exploring beyond a single attraction: the municipality offers everything from a long green corridor to a park, archaeological sites and a historic row of houses. Nearby, a riverside green space has five walking routes. You can decide whether nature, exercise or cultural heritage should be the focus of your trip.

Green Spaces and Activities

In the municipality of Neyagawa, a 3.5-kilometer green corridor runs north to south through the city, from Sakuragicho to Shimokandacho. Neyagawa Park brings together nature observation, recreation and archaeology. Fureai Hill has an approximately 20,000-square-meter hilly open area suitable for grass sledding and picnicking. Visitors can also look for insects and observe flowers there.

Neya Kofun is also located on the same hill. It was probably built in the late Kofun period and is designated a prefectural monument. Its horizontal stone chamber can be viewed up close. The park thus combines an open space and opportunities to observe nature with an archaeological monument. As a comprehensive sports park, it also has two baseball fields, 15 tennis courts, an athletics stadium and a softball field.

Cultural Heritage and the Seasons

In the Neya district, a preserved row of old houses lines Yamanemichi Street, with the homes bordered by earthen walls. This historic streetscape offers a different focus from the archaeological site on Fureai Hill: here, houses and earthen walls shape the scene, while the horizontal stone chamber of Neya Kofun is the main attraction there.

A seasonal cultural event is the Neyagawa Ebisu Grand Festival. It is held every year at Sumiyoshi Shrine: on January 9 as Yoiebisu, on January 10 as Hon-Ebisu, and on January 11 as Nokorifuku. These three days in January give your trip planning a specific date to consider if you would like to include the festival.

Walking Routes Nearby

Near the destination is the Uchiage River Flood-Control Green Space. A stream there connects an upper and a lower basin, and wild birds frequent the area. Five signposted walking routes range from 0.35 to 1.50 kilometers. By comparison, the city’s green corridor is considerably longer at 3.5 kilometers: a longer greenway and several shorter, marked routes offer different ways to explore the area’s natural attractions.

Due to renovation work, applications for permits to use the Uchiage River Flood-Control Green Space are not being accepted until March 31, 2027. If your planned use requires a permit, check the notices before your visit.

Getting to Neyagawa Park

Neyagawa Park is a short walk from the West Exit of Neyagawa-Koen Station on the JR Gakkentoshi Line. Another option is to start at Neyagawa-shi Station on the Keihan Main Line: from there, take a Keihan bus toward Neyagawa-Koen to Neyagawa-Koen Station. The park is then a short walk to the northwest. Check transport connections before you set out.
