Mitzpor Malkiya: Views and Audio Station
From the Mitzpor Malkiya viewpoint, you can see the Kadesh Valley, the Hula Valley, the Golan and Mount Hermon. A seven-minute audio station provides information about Malkiyya’s history and the battles fought there during the War of Independence. The commentary is narrated by Ora Armoni, a member of the kibbutz; it is also available in English.
Horse Rides and Pony Rides
The riding school at Kibbutz Malkiyya offers horse rides in open country and amid the landscapes of northern Galilee. Pony rides are also available for children. While the viewpoint is all about the view, the riding school is all about riding through the landscape. If you’re planning a horse ride or pony ride, check dates and current availability directly with the riding school.

Archaeological Sites in the Northern District
Within the broader Northern District destination, Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo can be understood through their different archaeological features. Tel Hazor brings together the history of palaces, fortifications and water engineering; Tel Megiddo is known for an Early Bronze Age temple complex and an orthogonal Iron Age city plan.
Tel Hazor is a biblical tell with significant remains of a city connected to biblical accounts. Visits focus on the Upper City. Tel Hazor includes Solomon’s Gate, a six-chambered gate with two towers dating to the 10th century BCE. A Canaanite palace was used by the kings of Hazor in the 14th and 13th centuries BCE. The Late Bronze Age palace is considered the most elaborate in Israel and one of the most important in the Levant. Tel Hazor’s fortifications are considered the finest example of their kind in the area from southern Turkey to the northern Negev.
Tel Hazor preserves significant remains of an underground water collection system, considered an ingenious feat of engineering adapted to the geography for water storage. In Tel Hazor’s water system, steps three meters wide are carved into the walls of the vertical shaft. The excavated shaft at Tel Hazor is 45 meters deep.
Tel Megiddo is a biblical tell with significant remains of a city connected to biblical accounts. Its Early Bronze Age temple complex is considered exceptional in terms of the number of its temples, the continuity of cultic activity and documented ritual practices. The orthogonal Iron Age city plan has few parallels in the Levant.
Tel Hazor National Park can be reached from the north and south via Route 90 toward Ayelet Hashahar. Check your navigation before setting out.
