Kidmat Tsvi has a clear connection to wine: Ram Winery represents family-run boutique winemaking, while Bell Ofri Tourist Farm offers visitor experiences related to wine. When planning your trip, it’s worth considering these distinct focuses: red wine production on the one hand, and tours and tastings on the other.

Winegrowing and Visitor Experiences

Ram Winery is a family-run boutique winery in Kidmat Tsvi in the Golan Heights. The winery has been producing red wines since 2000. If you’re interested in winegrowing, this offers a direct connection to the agricultural side of the area.

At Bell Ofri Tourist Farm, you can take a short self-guided tour. A guided visit with wine tasting is available by arrangement; there is also a restaurant. The two tour formats differ in whether you explore independently or arrange a guided tour with a tasting. If you’re planning a visit or a meal at the restaurant, confirm the current arrangements before your trip, as visitor offerings and availability may change.

Archaeology in the Broader Northern District Destination

As a separate regional context, the broader Northern District destination complements Kidmat Tsvi’s wine-related attractions with archaeological sites. Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo are biblical tels with significant remains of cities associated with the Bible. At Tel Hazor, the visit focuses on the Upper City. Its archaeological features include Solomon’s Gate, with six chambers and two towers, dating to the 10th century BCE, and the Canaanite palace used by the kings of Hazor in the 14th and 13th centuries BCE. The palace is considered the most elaborate in Israel and one of the most significant in the Levant.

Tel Hazor’s underground water system also illustrates engineering for water storage adapted to the geographical conditions. The excavated shaft is 45 meters deep, with three-meter-wide steps carved into its walls. The fortifications are considered the finest example of their kind in the area from southern Turkey to the northern Negev. Tel Hazor National Park can be reached from the north and south via Route 90 toward Ayelet Hashahar. Check your navigation before setting out.

Tel Megiddo offers a different archaeological focus: its Early Bronze Age temple complex is exceptional for the number of its temples, the continuity of cult activity, and its documented ritual practices. The right-angled Iron Age city plan has few parallels in the Levant. Tel Megiddo is one of three tels that preserve significant remains of cities associated with the Bible and are closely connected with events described in the Bible. The regional perspectives therefore differ: at Tel Hazor, the focus includes the water system, fortifications, and palace; at Tel Megiddo, it is the temple complex and city plan.

Plan your route to each chosen destination carefully.
