Forest and springs, trekking, coast, water sports and historic culture: West Lombok Regency offers a range of options for planning your trip. If you are looking for a hotel, first consider which experiences you want to shape your stay. This helps you tailor your choices to your own interests, rather than trying to fit as many different places as possible into one itinerary.

Forest, springs and trails in Sesaot

Desa Wisata Sesaot lies in a mountainous landscape and is surrounded by the protected Sesaot Forest. Numerous natural springs are fed by the surrounding forest. PUREKMAS is also in Sesaot: this recreation area has clear, flowing water and a clear, turquoise natural pool for swimming. Check the pool’s current operating conditions before visiting.

Visitor facilities at Desa Wisata Sesaot include a jungle trekking trail. There is specific information about the suitability of the trekking route at Bukit Mangga in Sesaot for beginners: it is suitable for beginners. Cross-country cycling through gardens, rice fields and forest is possible at Bukit Vetong in Sesaot. This gives you a choice of different ways to enjoy the Sesaot landscape: on foot or by bike.

Trekking and coast near Sekotong

Orong Bukal is a nature destination in Kecamatan Sekotong, West Lombok Regency. Green hills and clear, blue-green water define the area; visitors can swim there. Access is only possible via a trekking route. Factor this route into your decision to visit, and check its current conditions.

Pantai Mekaki has a light-sand beach on the open sea, surrounded by hills. The hills behind the beach have previously been used as a launch area for paragliding. This describes past use; it does not mean that paragliding is currently offered. Surfers visit Desert Point in Dusun Bangko-Bangko, Desa Batu Putih, Kecamatan Sekotong Barat, for its waves. Wave conditions vary.

Diving and snorkeling are also part of the coastal experiences. Teluk Belongas in Sekotong is known as a place for diving and snorkeling where hammerhead sharks and manta rays occur. Sightings depend on conditions. A municipal tourism publication from 2020 names Teluk Mekaki as a dive site where manta rays occur.

Islands and marine diversity

Gili Rengit in Sekotong can be reached by boat and is used for snorkeling because of its rich marine biodiversity. Since boat availability may vary, it is worth checking before your visit. At Gili Sudak, corals in the clear water are visible to the naked eye from a distance of about ten metres. These are two different points to consider when planning: Gili Rengit is known for snorkeling amid marine biodiversity, while Gili Sudak is notable for the visibility of its corals.

Historic site and annual festival

Taman Narmada is an 18th-century historic site modeled on Mount Rinjani. Visitors can explore historic buildings and experience a sacred spring there. The site thus connects history with specific places that can be discovered in person.

Perang Topat offers a different kind of cultural experience: the festival takes place every year at Taman Lingsar and has been recognized as Indonesia’s national intangible cultural heritage since 2020. The festival dates vary, so check the schedule when planning your trip. Taman Narmada is therefore a destination for historic architecture and a sacred spring, while Perang Topat is an annual tradition with dates that change.

Plan your stay and accommodation

If you are planning several different experiences, also take their respective conditions into account, such as the trekking access to Orong Bukal, boat availability for Gili Rengit or the dates of Perang Topat.
