Dunaharaszti offers several ways to explore its culture: the Baroque Laffert Mansion, the Neo-Romanesque Szent-István Church, the history and present-day life of the Swabian community, and the nature trail on Sport-sziget. These themes are clearly distinct: architecture and historical memory sit alongside cultural events and information about native plants and animals. When planning your trip, this selection can help you decide in advance whether you would like to focus mainly on architectural styles, local history, regular cultural events or nature. This lets you tailor your stay to your interests without having to combine every theme into a set itinerary.

The Laffert Mansion: Architecture and Culture

The Laffert Mansion is a two-storey Baroque mansion that was restored in 2010–2011. It covers just under 560 m²; the ensemble also includes a 3,300 m² garden in the Baroque style. There is also a modern 135 m² exhibition room. The building, garden and exhibition room each offer a distinct perspective. The mansion also brings Baroque architecture and a modern exhibition space together. This makes it a place where historic architecture and contemporary exhibition use stand side by side as distinct aspects.

The mansion carries out key cultural functions for the town of Dunaharaszti and regularly hosts art exhibitions as a gallery. Its salons also host music and literary events, chamber performances, film screenings and educational programs. The salons can accommodate 50 to 100 people. The cultural program thus ranges from visual art to music, literature and film. If you would like to include a particular event in your plans, check its date in advance, as individual dates may change.

Architectural History and Remembrance

The Roman Catholic Szent-István Church was built in the Neo-Romanesque style in 1903–1904. Comparing it with the Baroque mansion highlights the different architectural styles found in Dunaharaszti. Another aspect of the town's history is the monument erected in 2019 to honor the German ancestors who settled in Dunaharaszti. The church and monument offer different perspectives: the church is a Neo-Romanesque building from the early 20th century, while the monument specifically commemorates the settlement of the German ancestors. This makes architectural history and the memory of a community distinct yet complementary themes.

The Swabian Community and Nature

The Sváb Tájház presents the history and traditions of Dunaharaszti’s Swabian community, as well as its customs that are still alive today. It uses films, a virtual tour, illustrated reports and a narrated account. The focus is therefore not just on a single memorial, but on a community, its history and traditions, and its living customs. These different formats present the themes in different ways and complement the perspectives on architectural history and the monument with the history of the Swabian community.

The nature trail on Sport-sziget, by the Kis-Duna, offers a different perspective. In December 2022, the municipality described the trail’s information boards, which introduce the native plants, fish, reptiles and birds found there. The focus is on specific groups of local flora and fauna. If you would like to contrast cultural history with nature in your selection, this is a distinct area of interest alongside architecture, events and community history.
