Kiskunmajsa combines a thermal and leisure bath open year-round with examples of folk architecture, exhibitions and opportunities for cycling. This offers a range of options for planning your trip: days spent swimming, cycling on paved and unpaved routes, or exploring local architectural and cultural history.

Swim year-round and enjoy more in summer

Jonathermál Gyógy- és Élményfürdő is open year-round as a bath for three generations. Its landscaped grounds, which are also suitable for sports, include indoor and outdoor pools for thermal bathing, slides, wave swimming and leisure activities. The 530-square-metre wave pool is a distinctive feature of the complex.

In summer, four large slides add to the facilities: Anakonda is 120 metres long, Hidrocső 61 metres, Kamikaze 44 metres and the rafting slide 41 metres. The bath also offers an artificial lake with a sandy beach and floating water-park features during the summer season. This distinguishes the year-round pool facilities from the explicitly seasonal extras. If the slides or lake are an important reason for your trip, it is advisable to check the latest operating information in advance.

Cycling tours and nature in the wider municipality

Kiskunmajsa offers opportunities for both shorter and longer cycling tours on cycle paths and unpaved routes. Suggested destinations include Bugacpuszta and Szank. When choosing a route, you can therefore weigh up different distances and road surfaces. As surfaces and signage may change, it is a good idea to check current route conditions before setting out on a longer tour.

Bodoglár is part of the municipality of Kiskunmajsa. The Bodoglár Sand Hills are a 720-hectare dune area in the Kiskunság region, protected since 1984. Marked paths lead to particularly beautiful and characteristic spots. In Bodoglár, the Bodoglár–Tartós Szegfű nature trail also introduces visitors to the rare and specially protected Tartós Szegfű plant. The sand hills and nature trail offer different nature-related themes that can be considered separately when planning a visit.

Church, farmhouse and cultural insights

Kiskunmajsa’s Roman Catholic church stands in the central square. Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it was built in the late Baroque style. The townscape also features a few so-called ray-gable houses, characteristic of local folk architecture. The Tájház is a three-part farmhouse, built around 1850, with a thatched roof, late-19th-century furnishings and a traditional oven.

The Hungarikum Sétány explores local values and Hungarian Hungarika in a permanent exhibition, which visitors can discover while taking a walk. The Pongrátz Gergely 56-os Emlékmúzeum és Kápolna offers a different thematic perspective: two rooms cover the history and memorabilia of the Pongrátz family, while two others focus on the events of the 1956 Revolution and War of Independence. Kis Tibor’s private Söröskorsó és Söröspohár Gyűjtemény collection comprises more than 1,200 beer mugs and glasses from 32 countries.

Hungarian folk dance is also part of local cultural life. The performing group of the Mayossa Hagyományőrző Egyesület preserves and shares the tradition and performs at city events. The Majsa Napok is held in connection with the church feast on Kisasszony Day. If you would like to plan your trip around this festival, it is best to check the specific event dates in advance.

Plan your journey

For road travel, two options are listed: from Kiskunfélegyháza in the direction of Kiskunhalas, or from Szeged via Route 5, turning off at Kistelek. Combined with the choice between year-round bathing, summer extras, cycling tours and culture, this information can help you decide what to focus on during your stay in Kiskunmajsa.
