From the Panorámatorony, you can take in views of Kiskunhalas from a height of 38 metres. The town is also home to the protected Sáfrik-féle szélmalom windmill and Csetényi Park, a nature reserve of local significance. These three themes each offer a different focus: views over the town, a protected monument and a habitat for animal and plant species. You can choose what to focus on in Kiskunhalas based on whether you would like your stay to centre on culture, a panoramic view or nature.

Kiskunhalas: Town Views, a Windmill and Nature

The Panorámatorony offers views of Kiskunhalas from a height of 38 metres. If you want to take in the town as a whole, it provides a specific point of reference for planning your trip. This sets it apart from a visit focused on a single building or on nature conservation.

The Sáfrik-féle szélmalom windmill is at 22 Kölcsey utca and is a protected monument. It offers a clear cultural and historical point of interest in Kiskunhalas. If you plan to visit, check the current opening arrangements beforehand. This makes the protected windmill a useful point of reference without requiring you to assume fixed visiting hours.

Csetényi Park is a nature reserve of local significance and a habitat for several animal and plant species. Its focus is therefore on nature and protected habitats. This gives you a different perspective from the Panorámatorony or the windmill: here, the themes are protected status and biodiversity.

Together, the three places do not suggest a set itinerary, but offer different reasons to consider Kiskunhalas. The tower represents views over the town, the windmill a protected building, and the park the value of local nature. Choose the focus that best suits what you would like to discover on your trip.

Bács-Kiskun: Archaeology, Craft and Nature

In the wider destination of Bács-Kiskun, the Tiszaalpár, Földvár educational trail introduces visitors to the history of the Bronze Age fortified settlement of Tiszaalpári Földvár and the way of life of people in the Bronze Age. Tiszaalpári Földvár is a specially protected archaeological site in Bács-Kiskun. Its designation is based on Decree 3/2003. (I. 25.) NKÖM. Both the historical interpretation offered by the trail and the site’s protected status are therefore central.

The Kiskunhalasi Csipkeház and Csipkemúzeum in the wider destination of Bács-Kiskun offer a different cultural perspective. Visitors can learn about the history of Halas lace, which began in 1902, admire lacework dating back centuries and see the lace-embroidering process. This provides an insight into the history of the craft, its pieces and how they are made.

Bács-Kiskun has a range of educational trails focused on nature. The Boróka educational trail in Bugac is 1,100 metres long and features information boards and interactive stations, including a forest xylophone and a play telescope. A trail at Lake Szelidi focuses on blue-green algae and the lake’s development, the characteristics of its water, the organisms living there and the surrounding wildlife. Its twelve information stations clearly organise these topics. Lake Szelidi itself is a natural oxbow lake that developed from a side channel of the Danube after the Ice Age. The blue-green algae educational trail is accessible on foot and by bicycle year-round; local conditions may change.

These themes in Bács-Kiskun differ in subject matter and presentation: Tiszaalpár focuses on the Bronze Age and archaeology, the Kiskunhalasi Csipkeház and Csipkemúzeum on lace-making, and the educational trails on nature and water. This allows you to place a stay in Kiskunhalas within a broader view of the wider destination of Bács-Kiskun, without treating these different themes as interchangeable.
