Pezoula combines an altitude of 900 m with green surroundings and two named springs. Nearby are forest, a cave and a viewpoint; there are also mountain biking centres, horseback riding and a swimming route. For planning, it helps to distinguish between Pezoula and Kalývia Pezoulas: Kalývia is a settlement on the shore of Lake Plastiras, while Pezoula itself lies at a higher elevation. This makes it possible to distinguish the village connections from the lakeside location.
Location and local connections
Pezoula is 33 km from KardĂtsa, at an altitude of 900 m and surrounded by greenery. The distance places Pezoula in relation to KardĂtsa; the elevation and greenery characterise the village itself. With the development of tourism in the region of Lake Plastiras, Pezoula and especially the settlement of KalĂ˝via Pezoulas have developed considerably in recent years. KalĂ˝via Pezoulas is on the lakeshore. When choosing a search location, it is therefore worth paying close attention to the name: the lakeside location refers to KalĂ˝via, while Pezoula is distinguished by its elevation and springs.
Springs and churches
Two springs in the village are associated with different features. The stone spring of Ag. Paraskevi is well preserved; the Karagianni spring is located almost at the edge of the village. For one, the construction and state of preservation stand out; for the other, its location near the village boundary.
Precise distinctions are also important when it comes to the churches. On 27 July, the feast day of Ag. Panteleimon, a liturgy and an artoklasia are held in the village church. Nearby, in Kalývia Pezoulas, stands a three-aisled, vaulted church of Ag. Panteleimon, renovated in the 18th century. The shared name refers to two different locations: the church observance in Pezoula and the church building in Kalývia.
Forest and views nearby
The village of Pezoula includes about 3,000 stremmata of forest with firs, chestnuts and oaks. DrakĂłtrypa Cave is about 1 km west of Pezoula, in the direction of the KaramanĂłli peak. The MonachĂł Klári viewpoint is above the settlement of NeraĂda and offers a distinctive view. The locations differ: the forest belongs to the village, the cave lies to its west, and the viewpoint is located by reference to NeraĂda.
Activities in the region
Mountain biking centres in Kalývia Pezoulas and in Neochóri, near the Botanical Garden, help visitors with numerous routes. The routes run along roads, by the lakeshore and in the mountains, cover a total of about 35 km and vary in difficulty. When planning, you can compare terrain and difficulty, not just the approximate total length.
Organised farms between Morfovoúni and Kalývia Pezoulas offer horseback rides for children and adults. This is a different activity, with its own location between the two settlements. A 5 km swimming route runs from the beach of Pezoula to the beach of Lamperó. It describes a single route with two named endpoints; by contrast, the mountain biking information refers to numerous routes and their approximate total length. If you are looking for hotels in Pezoula, you can weigh the location of your stay and regional activities separately.
