Kineton offers several different ways to shape a stay: Church of St Peter, an approximately 12-mile circular walk and Hare Street Road Millennium Wildlife Area. For planning, it is worth considering these separately. The church is chiefly about its architectural history, the walk about its route, and the wildlife area about its paths and habitats. This lets you tailor your stay to whether you are most interested in local history, a longer walk or nature.

Church and local history

Church of St Peter in Kineton dates from the 13th century and was altered in the 14th, 15th and 18th centuries. Its architectural history therefore spans several centuries, giving the church a clear cultural and historical focus. St Peter’s churchyard also offers a local history perspective: the Kineton and District Local History Group mapped it over approximately two years; it contains more than 500 graves. Brochures presenting the project’s findings can be consulted at the church and at Warwickshire Record Office. If you would like to go beyond the church’s architectural history, you can consult the mapping brochures.

Walking and wildlife area

An approximately 12-mile circular walk starts and ends in the village of Kineton at The Swan. Its approximate length gives you a specific indication for including it in your day’s plans as a walking outing in its own right. Route conditions and connections can change; check them before setting off. Information updated by the parish council in 2021 lists numerous walking routes through Kineton; check their local availability before your trip.

Hare Street Road Millennium Wildlife Area has user-friendly paths. A redesign in 2012 added further wildlife habitats. Access is via Snells Mead, Carter's Close or the footpath beside the last house on the south side of Hare Street Road.

Market and festival

Kineton Farmers Market takes place on selected dates throughout the year in the Market Square. If the market is important to your trip, check the relevant date in advance. Kineton Music Festival raises funds for local charitable causes. If you want to plan your trip around it, include the specific event date in your plans. The market and festival offer different local highlights and are time-specific occasions whose dates matter when planning a trip.

Plan a stay that suits you

The market or festival, by contrast, may determine when you travel. If you are making your trip for one of these occasions, check the date before choosing your accommodation around it.
