St Teath in Cornwall offers two specific ways to spend your time: explore the architectural history of St Tetha’s Church in the village and take a circular walk through the surrounding countryside. There is also a clock tower built from slate in the village centre. If you are looking for accommodation here, you can choose between a visit to the village and a longer day of walking. Nearby Delabole is a separate place.

St Tetha’s: a church with several building phases

The Grade I-listed parish church has Norman origins. North and south aisles were added in the 15th century. The west tower was partly remodelled in 1630; restorations followed in 1877–1879 and 1913. These phases give the building a specific historical context, rather than classifying it simply as an old village church.

A medieval granite cross stands in the churchyard, with an openwork wheel-cross head and traces of its original decoration. The church, cross and clock tower are distinct points of interest for a visit to the village. The parish does not publish fixed opening hours on its directions page. If you would like to visit the interior, contact the parish directly to confirm.

A circular walk through the St Teath countryside

Route provider iWalk Cornwall describes a 7.5-kilometre circular walk around St Teath and rates it easy to moderate. The landscape is also connected with the former North Cornwall Railway, which ran to Delabole quarry. In spring, the provider notes wildflowers along the footpaths and lanes.

Route features include a stone stile with slate steps and a stretch of about a quarter of a mile along a B-road. This is a different outing from a short walk between the church and clock tower. Check the current route with the provider; the detailed app or printed guide is a separate offering.

Choose your stay to suit a village visit or a walk

When choosing accommodation, the key question is whether you mainly want to explore the village centre or walk the circular route described here. Compare the specific address with your chosen starting point. An address in St Teath does not mean the walk starts right outside your door, nor does it include a guided tour or guarantee access to the church interior.
