A war memorial, preserved carriage entrances and the annual Praze Fair Show add distinct cultural dimensions to Praze-an-Beeble. The woodland and a route in the surrounding area complement the village’s history with details about the landscape and planning.

A place of remembrance and historic architectural features

The Praze-an-Beeble and Crowan war memorial commemorates the men of the parish who died in the First World War. The architecture of 7 Fore Street offers a different perspective on the village’s history. The building comprises a house and a former coach house with carriage shed dating from the early 19th century. Two wide, elliptical-arched carriage entrances have been preserved.

The building’s features and entrances give the former use of horse-drawn carriages a concrete architectural form. This makes the connection distinct from the remembrance at the war memorial: here, the focus is on the building’s history, while there it is on commemorating the parish’s men who fell in the First World War. Both subjects offer a distinct perspective on the history of Praze-an-Beeble and Crowan.

The listed buildings in Praze-an-Beeble also include St Aubyns Arms Public House, Post Office and Adjoining Antique Shop, and Trethannas Farmhouse. Both buildings are Grade II listed. The first is notable for its long building complex, whose name indicates several uses; Trethannas Farmhouse is a farmhouse. Together with the details about 7 Fore Street, they show how the village’s history can be explored through building types, names and preserved architecture.

Woodland and paths

At the Old Clowance Estate in Praze-an-Beeble, 75 acres of historic parkland and estate woodland are managed for outdoor education for all. Crenver Grove is a 35-acre historic small woodland managed by the Sustainable Trust. The area figures allow a direct comparison: the Old Clowance Estate’s 75 acres are more than twice the 35 acres of Crenver Grove. The descriptions also differ: the Estate is noted for its historic parkland and estate woodland, as well as outdoor education, while the Grove is described as a small woodland.

Crenver Grove is on the B3303, the road from Camborne to Helston, at the turn-off for Drym. A route in the surrounding area runs from Crowan through Crenver Grove and then turns right at Clowance Wood Farm. If you are planning to walk this route, check the local path conditions beforehand.

A Cornwall Council report dated 5 January 2026 records a proposal to divert part of bridleway 76 near Clowance Barton in Praze-an-Beeble, Camborne. If this section is important to your plans, check locally whether the rights-of-way order has changed since then.

Dates and practical information
