Millendreath can be explored from two distinct coastal perspectives: Millendreath Beach lies in a sheltered cove of pebbles and sand, while the South West Coast Path runs through the area. The Bodigga Cliffs offer views of Rame Head once again. This means that the beach and coastal walking are different focal points to consider for a stay.

Beach in the sheltered cove

Millendreath Beach lies between Looe and Seaton. The sheltered cove and the mixed pebble-and-sand surface describe two specific aspects of the beach: its location and the nature of the shore. As a beach destination, Millendreath Beach is known for its cove and mixed surface; the South West Coast Path, by contrast, offers views along the route. Check local conditions before travelling if a beach visit is important to your plans.

Coastal path and views

The South West Coast Path runs through Millendreath. The Bodigga Cliffs offer views of Rame Head once again. The circular walk “Millendreath & the Monkey Sanctuary” provides a different view, with vistas across Looe Bay. These two viewpoints are useful when choosing a walk based on the coastal panorama you want: Rame Head is associated with the Bodigga Cliffs, and Looe Bay with the named circular walk.

The new route of the South West Coast Path at Millendreath has been moved away from the road. In a notice published on 4 June 2025, Natural England said the new route was intended to provide more scenic views and a safer walking route. Near Millendreath, the South West Coast Path was diverted via Bodigga Lane because Bodigga Cliff is unstable and prone to landslides. Check for current South West Coast Path notices before walking. The reasons differ: the stated aim of the new route is to offer views and a safer walking route, while the diversion via Bodigga Lane is due to the unstable cliff.

Summer flowers at the Celtic Labyrinth

The Celtic Labyrinth lies above the sea, about three-quarters of a mile along the South West Coast Path. In summer, foxgloves, viper’s bugloss, red campion, cat’s-ear and greater stitchwort line the section of path to the labyrinth. The flowers give this particular stretch a seasonal natural highlight. If you want to see these plants, you can take summer into account when planning your trip.

The circular walk “Millendreath & the Monkey Sanctuary” offers views across Looe Bay. In the area, the Monkey Sanctuary at the Wild Futures site in Cornwall is closed; do not plan it as an open visitor attraction.

When choosing between the viewpoints, consider whether you would like to see Rame Head from the section by the Bodigga Cliffs or Looe Bay on the named circular walk. If plants along the path are your main interest, the summer flowers on the section to the Celtic Labyrinth provide a seasonal guide. This allows you to weigh the viewpoints and seasonal flora as different reasons for travelling.
