Kleinobringen can be viewed on two scales: several tree species shape the village character, while the Little Ettersberg Loop makes the village part of a regional route. In good weather, the view extends far across the Thuringian Basin. You can therefore plan a stay around both the village’s features and a longer circular tour.

Streams, trees and distant views

The Bachlange and the Rassel streams flow through Kleinobringen. The Rassel’s visibility varies by location: it can be seen at the edge of the village and outside it, while within the village it runs through a culvert. The Rassel is therefore not visible in the open along its entire course. Birches, small-leaved lime trees, chestnut trees and ash trees shape the village character. The waterways and tree species thus offer two different ways to experience Kleinobringen’s landscape.

In good weather, the view from Kleinobringen extends across the Thuringian Basin to the ridges of the Finne, the Schmücke and the Hainleite, as well as to the Kyffhäuser. These distant views depend on good weather; they are a possible landscape experience, not an activity that can be enjoyed regardless of the weather. If the view is an important part of your stay, it is worth keeping this distinction in mind when planning.

A historical point of reference

Kleinobringen was first mentioned on 13 June 1342. This date is a specific historical point of reference, but it should not be equated with a founding date: it marks the first mention of the village. For anyone who wants to place Kleinobringen in a historical context as well as explore its landscape, it provides a clear point of reference. This historical perspective complements the description of the village today, but answers a different question from the circular tour: it places the village in time, while the route connects it with other destinations.

Kleinobringen on the Little Ettersberg Loop

The Little Ettersberg Loop is 23.5 kilometres long. It crosses the Ettersberg and passes through the villages to the east, connecting Ettersburg Palace, Wohlsborn, Großobringen, Kleinobringen and Heichelheim. Kleinobringen is therefore one of several named destinations on a regional circular tour. This is a different scale for travel planning than the view or the village character: the loop takes in several villages and a palace, while Kleinobringen itself is one point of interest along the route.

Between Heichelheim and Kleinobringen, a field path on the Little Ettersberg Loop provides a shortcut of about 1.5 kilometres uphill towards Ettersburger Straße. This is a different measure from the full 23.5-kilometre circular tour: it refers to a specific section and gives an approximate distance as well as an uphill climb. When comparing route options, you can therefore distinguish between the full loop and the shortcut described here. As conditions on the ground may vary, check the latest route conditions before setting out.

Plan your stay around what matters most

The 23.5-kilometre route and the field path described as a shortcut are different measurements and should be considered separately.
