Around six kilometres of beach, a coastal promenade and a pier more than 300 metres long shape what Scharbeutz has to offer. There are also activities on the water, cycling routes and a longer hiking trail. When planning your visit, it is worth choosing between a day on the coast, active pursuits and excursions on two wheels.

Beach, Promenade and Pier

The multifunctional coastal promenade has a cycle path that can also be used for inline skating. The seaside promenade offers direct views of the Baltic Sea and direct access to the Scharbeutz Pier. More than 300 metres long, it serves as a maritime promenade with panoramic views across the sea. The beach, promenades and pier offer different ways to enjoy the coast, without requiring you to settle on a single activity.

A beach church is also part of the local landscape: Scharbeutz Beach Church stands right by the Baltic Sea, and the beach can be incorporated into services. If you would like to combine your visit with a service, check the current schedule in advance, as service times may change.

Water Activities and Beach Sections

There are two SUP stations on the beach. Providers rent out boards and paddles, offer beginner lessons and run SUP courses. The number of stations and the activities available may change seasonally, so check what is on offer during your visit. Ostsee Therme Scharbeutz complements the water activities with aquatic activities, slides and wellness facilities. Family recreation is also part of its offer; individual attractions may change.

A nudist beach is designated at beach access point 2 near Ostsee Therme. As beach use can change, check the current signage on site. At beach section 22 near Capolino, wooden boards are laid out on the beach. They are removed from autumn to spring because of storms and high water. From 1 May to 30 September, the DLRG offers free beach wheelchairs for bathing in the Baltic Sea in Scharbeutz and Haffkrug. Check in advance whether they are available for loan on your travel dates.

Cycling, Hiking and Fish Sandwiches

The Fischbrötchenstraße (Fish Sandwich Route) runs along the coast through Scharbeutz and can be explored by bicycle. Another option is the “Fahrrad findet Fisch” (Bike Finds Fish) cycling tour: it starts in Scharbeutz, is 44 kilometres long and passes more than 15 fish sandwich stops. The individual stops and their opening hours may change; check what is currently available before setting off.

For a longer walk, there is a 12.3-kilometre hike from Scharbeutz towards Sierksdorf. In Scharbeutz, the route passes the dune golf course and skate park. Dune golf itself has 18 holes among marram grass and obstacles, with the Baltic Sea in the background. The hike and the course are different ways to spend time outdoors; details of the leisure facility’s operation may change.

Along DĂĽnenmeile, you will find small shops and boutiques with sea views. The retail selection may change. If you are looking for a swivelling beach-chair base: at Grande Beach Scharbeutz, Strandallee 134a, it is located in beach section 17. Check the availability of specific beach equipment before your visit.

Getting There and Practical Information

At Scharbeutz station, both platforms offer step-free access, train information displays, tactile orientation and high-contrast wayfinding. The platform height is at least 55 centimetres. As details may change when work is carried out at the station, check the information again before travelling.

The stations and beach sections offer different practical points of reference for your stay: the promenade for cycling or inline skating, the pier for views across the Baltic Sea, and the designated beach facilities for specific uses. It is best to check seasonal activities and changeable details for your travel dates.
