The cast-iron Carp Bridge offers a postcard-perfect view of the New Castle. Pineapples are grown in the castle nursery using a practice dating back to the PĂĽckler era. Details like these offer different ways to enjoy a stay in Bad Muskau: parkland, garden culture, outdoor activities and wellness.
Parkland and garden culture
The German section of Muskau Park comprises the Castle Park, Bath Park and Mountain Park. On the Polish side are the Lower Park, arboretum and Braunsdorf Fields. This layout helps visitors find their way around: those exploring the park can distinguish between its named areas rather than viewing it as a single estate.
In the northern part of the park, paths by Eichsee lead to seating areas and a small waterfall. This offers a different perspective from the view of the New Castle from the Carp Bridge. The bridge lies where the HermannsneiĂźe flows into the Neisse; its cast-iron structure and views make it a specific destination on a walk through the park.
The restored castle nursery is also worth a closer look. The complex includes several greenhouses and a kitchen garden. Pineapples are grown there using a practice dating back to the PĂĽckler era. The gardens thus bring together useful plants and the historic gardening tradition, and a visit is not limited to a single greenhouse.
Guided tours and getting around the park
From April to October, public park tours meet at 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at the Muskau Park Tourist Centre. They last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. If you plan to join a tour, check the seasonal schedule before travelling and allow enough time for your visit.
Cycling is expressly permitted and recommended in most parts of the park, with exceptions in certain restricted areas. Bicycles can be rented at Schlossvorwerk, although availability and opening hours may vary. The park can be reached by bike via the Oder-Neisse Cycle Route, the Prince PĂĽckler Route and the Frog Cycle Route. If you are planning a ride, you can consider these routes as ways to get there and tailor your visit to your cycling plans.
For a different way to get around, carriage rides depart from Schlossvorwerk. They must be booked in advance; whether a ride is available depends on the individual operator. An inflatable boat trip runs along the Neisse from the old weir near the Orangery to Żarki Wielkie. It takes about two and a half hours and includes a minibus pick-up. Check this seasonal service, which depends on the operator, before travelling. Both activities require different planning from a walk or bike ride.
Plan your wellness break and journey
Bad Muskau’s natural therapeutic resources include peat, saline thermal water and a healing climate. The Kulturhotel Fürst Pückler Park offers therapeutic stays, certified wellness and preventive health programmes, as well as health and wellness breaks featuring peat and saline thermal water.
From April to October, you can also take the forest railway from WeiĂźwasser to Bad Muskau. As this is a seasonal service, it is advisable to check operating days before travelling.
