Auderath is shaped by the Traumsteig, other Eifel hiking trails and cycling options. When planning, it is worth distinguishing a specific route from an extensive mountain bike network.
Hiking in the Endert Valley
The Traumsteig through the wild Endert Valley runs right by Auderath and through the municipality. The route covers around 20 km from Ulmen to Cochem; there are several places to stop for refreshments along the way. Check current conditions before setting out, as access conditions and facilities may change.
Auderath is also a starting point for nearby Eifel hiking trails, including the Eifelsteig and Traumpfade. While the Traumsteig passes through the municipality, these trails add further hiking options with Auderath as a starting point. Check trail conditions before setting out here, too.
Cycling: route and trail network
The 77 km Vulkan-Rad-Route Eifel runs between Dümpelfeld on the Ahr and Bad Bertrich and passes through Auderath. The village is also in the Vulkanbike Trailpark, whose signposted mountain bike network covers around 750 km. These are different scales: 77 km refers to a single cycling route, while around 750 km is the size of a trail network. If you are planning a ride, check the network’s current extent and the signage.
Shopping in the village
A self-service shop in Auderath sells fresh eggs daily and pasta made from the producer’s own eggs. If you plan to shop there, check availability before your visit, as local offerings may change.
In the wider Cochem-Zell destination
The medieval Imperial Castle of Cochem was restored and rebuilt in the 19th century in the Neo-Gothic style by Louis Ravené as part of the Romantic castle movement. Visitors can see rooms including the Knights’ Hall, dining hall, hunting room and ladies’ chamber. On Fridays and Saturdays, the castle offers rustic medieval banquets under the name “Gasterey nach Art der alten Rittersleut.” As the schedule may change, check the current dates before visiting.
Jungferweiher is an important breeding and resting area for numerous bird species, especially during spring and autumn migration. For nature enthusiasts, these two seasons provide a specific seasonal connection to this habitat.
The Geierlay suspension bridge lies between Sosberg in the district of Cochem-Zell and Mörsdorf in the Rhein-Hunsrück district. It is 360 m long and stands 100 m above the Mörsdorfer Bachtal.
Many tourist attractions in the wider Cochem-Zell destination are well connected to public transport. A visitor guide published in July 2025 lists the appropriate bus or train line for each attraction. Check the specific connection for your travel day, as individual services may change.
