Park and Stream Landscape
The Am Fürstenbrünnchen park includes fruit meadows and wooded areas. The park also has paths and benches; check their condition locally before your visit. A stretch of the Milchbornbach, also known as the Saaler Mühlenbach, runs parallel to Am Fürstenbrünnchen Street. Along a short reference stretch, the stream flows in a very natural state through a beech grove. This brings different landscape features into view: the park’s meadows and wooded areas, as well as the short stretch of stream in the beech grove.
A Memorial with Several Historical Chapters
The Lückerath War Memorial is listed in the City of Bergisch Gladbach’s list of historic monuments under reference number 05378004-A0158. The year given is 1859; it was added to the list on March 25, 1998.
The history of the Lückerath memorial began with a wayside cross erected in 1859 at the intersection of Lückerather Weg and Am Fürstenbrünnchen. The cross was later expanded into a memorial to the men of Lückerath who fell in the First World War. Two wings of red sandstone bear the names of 15 fallen men. The memorial was moved to its current location and inaugurated there on June 3, 1972.
The Lückerather Anger beside the Im Pützchen residential area also has a more recent history. A 2021 report says it was created in 2002 from improved farmland and a meadow. The Holy Pützchen, also called the Holy Little Spring, has been firmly closed since 1921. Its water was contaminated with heavy metals and was therefore no longer suitable for drinking.

Culture in the Wider Destination of Bergisch Gladbach
In Bergisch Gladbach, visitors to the LVR Industrial Museum, Alte Dombach Paper Mill, can discover how paper has been made over the centuries, first through laborious handwork and later industrially. Six steles along the Poetry Trail have stood since 2011 between the source of the Strunde in Bergisch Gladbach-Herrenstrunden and the Alte Dombach Paper Museum. Two poetry editions are launched there each year, each with a hike involving the public and a supporting program featuring music or performance. If you would like to plan your trip around one of these events, check the current program.
To visit Alte Dombach, take bus route 426 from the nearest S-Bahn station, Bergisch Gladbach, toward Wipperfürth and get off at the “Alte Dombach” stop. Check the timetable before travelling, as transport information can change.
