Krummin combines experiences on the water at the Krumminer Wiek with a protected landscape and a specific literary connection. At the natural harbor, boat trips and paddling activities go hand in hand with a clear focus on bird and nature conservation; on land, the linden avenue, St. Michael’s Church and Meinhold’s novel add to the history of the village. This gives you different options when planning your trip—from a boat trip to cultural and historical discoveries.

At the natural harbor: water, nature and regional cuisine

Krummin Natural Harbor is located in the Usedom Island Nature Park. From there, visitors can set out on the Zeesen boat “Romantik” to explore the Krumminer Wiek. Canoe tours are also offered at the harbor. These guided tours have been running since 2017, with NABU providing support for bird and nature conservation. The activities therefore have different focuses: the “Romantik” trip is for exploring the Wiek, while nature and bird conservation are an explicit part of the guided canoe tours.

More than 50 bird species seek shelter and nesting sites in the nearby reed beds at Krummin Natural Harbor. For nature enthusiasts, this habitat adds another dimension to the water-based activities. Yacht charters are also available at the natural harbor; Outdoor Usedom offers kayak rentals and tours there. Charter and kayak options may be seasonal, so check what is available during your travel dates.

Regional dishes are served on the harbor terrace, with a maritime view. Since opening periods may vary by season, it is worth checking the hours before adding a visit to the terrace to your day’s plans.

Linden Avenue and a bike ride to Gnitz

The two-kilometer-long linden avenue to Krummin is protected. From Krummin, cyclists can ride east along the shore of the Krumminer Wiek to the Gnitz Peninsula. The avenue’s length provides a point of reference, while the bike ride is defined by the shoreline, direction and destination of Gnitz. Surface and access conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Monastery history and literature

St. Michael’s Church in Krummin is the last surviving testament to the Cistercian convent, which was dissolved during the Reformation. Pastor Johann Wilhelm Meinhold served in Krummin from 1827 to 1844 and wrote his novel “The Amber Witch” there. These two traces lead to different chapters in the village’s history: the church points to the former convent, while Meinhold’s novel reflects literary activity in Krummin. Alongside experiences on the water, you can also discover the village through its religious and literary history.

A walk through the Feng Shui garden

Margret Schreiber-Gorny invites visitors to take a walk through her Feng Shui garden in Krummin. Since visiting arrangements may change, ask in advance about the current options for the tour.

In the wider destination of Vorpommern-Greifswald

The three nature parks in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district cover almost 40 percent of the district’s area. The Baltic Sea Cycle Route, part of the EuroVelo EV10 route, also passes through the district. These regional connections broaden the scope for planning a trip beyond Krummin.
