Madlitz-Wilmersdorf can be explored through its architectural history, park design and tours with different points of reference. Wilmersdorf and Alt Madlitz have churches dating from different centuries; Alt Madlitz Manor Park adds designed vistas to the picture. This gives you several focal points for planning your trip: you can be interested in the churches, landscape design or a circular route with an approximate duration, and tailor your search for a holiday apartment to your preferred theme.

Churches from different periods

The neo-Gothic church in Wilmersdorf was built between 1881 and 1883. Its interior contains furnishings from several centuries: a baptismal angel from the first half of the 18th century, a carved sculpture of Saint Anne with the Virgin and Child from the 14th century, and a wooden pulpit with a cartilage-work canopy from the second half of the 17th century. The 19th-century church building thus stands alongside older works. This contrast in dates gives those interested in cultural history a concrete reason to consider the building and its furnishings together.

The village church in Alt Madlitz dates from the end of the 13th century. In 1900, its interior was redesigned in the neoclassical style based on plans by architect Franz Schwechten. This brings together a medieval building date and a later, neoclassical interior design in the same church. Together with the Wilmersdorf church, it offers a nuanced view of two different building histories rather than a single uniform period.

Manor park and tours

In Alt Madlitz Manor Park, carefully designed vistas framed by large oaks and chestnuts form an ensemble. The design is therefore based not only on individual trees, but also on how they are arranged along carefully planned sightlines. If you are interested in landscape design, this park offers a different focus from the churches: here, the interplay between the layout and the trees takes centre stage.

The Around the Manor Estate – Discovery Tour begins at Alt Madlitz Castle Estate and ends at Gut Klostermühle. It includes an approximately one-hour circular walk around Lake Madlitz. The duration applies to the circular walk, so you can use this defined section as a guide when planning. The Märkische Castles Tour passes through Alt Madlitz and Briesen (Mark). The landscape park at Alt Madlitz Castle is one of the tour’s stops. This means an approximate duration for a circular walk and a route with several named places provide different points of reference.
