Breydin combines the edge of Barnim Nature Park with traces of local history. Forests and extensive agricultural land surround the town, and the Nonnenfließ stream rises in Breydin. When planning your visit, you can consider nature and culture as distinct points of interest: Tuchen-Klobbicke is associated with the watercourse and mill ruins, while Trampe is known for its park and castle history. You can choose your destinations according to which of these themes you would like to focus on during your stay.
Landscape and watercourse
Breydin lies on the edge of Barnim Nature Park. The Barnimer Heide Landscape Protection Area is part of Barnim Nature Park. Forests and extensive agricultural land surround Breydin. The Nonnenfließ has its source in Breydin; more precisely, it is in Tuchen-Klobbicke, near the border with Heckelberg. Visitors go hiking along the stream. In Tuchen-Klobbicke, you can explore the remains of the Mittelmühle and Neue Mühle mills along its course. This brings a distinctive watercourse and traces of former mills together—a fitting focus if you would like to consider the landscape and local history side by side.
Half-timbered church and castle park
The half-timbered church in Tuchen-Klobbicke is also known as the Wedding Church. The Biesenthal administrative office conducts wedding ceremonies there. If a ceremony is part of your plans, check availability before making arrangements. The Fachwerkkirche Tuchen e.V. association organizes and runs the cultural events at the church.
The former castle park in Trampe is a special attraction. Remains of the stone field wall of Breydin Castle lie in the rear part of the park. The castle was mentioned several times in 1308; the castle park has been a protected historic site since 1981. These years refer to different historical milestones: the mentions of the castle and the park’s later protected status. So, when choosing between the destinations, keep in mind that Tuchen-Klobbicke is associated with the watercourse and mill ruins, while Trampe is known for its park and traces of the castle.
More activities and points of interest
Horse-riding lessons are also offered in Trampe. This is a different activity from hiking along the Nonnenfließ and adds another way to stay active during your visit. If you would like to plan a riding lesson, check availability in advance.
Accommodation, dining and getting here
The Froschmühle is accommodation in the forest in Tuchen-Klobbicke and is suitable for families with several children and for groups. If this accommodation suits your plans, confirm its current availability before booking. The country hotel on the L168 towards Heckelberg serves food; check that it is currently open before stopping for a meal.
Two route descriptions lead to different districts: from Eberswalde, take the B 168 to Trampe; from Grüntal, take the K6006 to Tuchen-Klobbicke. Choose your route based on which place you plan to visit first, and check road conditions before setting off. This will let you align your journey with the focus you have chosen for your stay.
