Vorauf offers a short hike to Hammer and a second route to the Stoißer-Alm. There are also the holiday park’s elevated location, mountain views and distinctive architecture. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can choose Vorauf based on whether a manageable hike, a named alpine pasture destination, or cultural and regional discoveries matter most for your trip.

Hiking from Vorauf: two different destinations

The Vorauf–Hammer hike starts at the Vorauf holiday park and follows a forest road along the Traun to Hammer and its spa park. It is 4.0 kilometres long and takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. This very easy, short route is also suitable for toddlers; weather and trail conditions can affect its suitability. The route therefore provides a specific timeframe and leads to a clearly named destination.

Another option is the Stoißer-Alm Trail. It also starts at the Vorauf holiday park and follows the well-signposted Trail No. 60 to the Stoißer-Alm. There, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Chiemgau and Berchtesgaden mountains. While the distance and duration of the Vorauf–Hammer hike help with planning your time, the Stoißer-Alm Trail is defined by its trail number, destination and views. Check local trail conditions before setting out.

Elevation and views

The Vorauf holiday park is located on a ridge at an elevation of 700 metres. The route to the holiday park offers many views of the Chiemgau and Berchtesgaden mountains, as well as the Bavarian Sea. If you would like to make the views a priority, there are two distinct vantage points: the many views along the route to the holiday park and the panorama at the StoiĂźer-Alm.

Architecture, playground and culture

The Vorauf holiday park is known for its distinctive architecture in the so-called “birdhouse style”. The holiday park also has a children’s playground, including a football pitch. If you are travelling with toddlers, you can consider the playground and the suitable Vorauf–Hammer hike as two separate options.

The well-known little church in the St. Johann district is located near Vorauf. It has a 1,100-year history and a Romanesque core; it was modified in the 14th/15th and 17th centuries. It is a protected historic building in Bavaria. The Romanesque core and later modifications give the building’s history a clear timeline. The brine pipeline trail also runs along the route to the Vorauf holiday park.

Near Vorauf, the historic mill shop offers various types of flour as well as many regional and organic products. This adds a shopping option to the area’s hiking and cultural destinations.

Cross-country skiing trails as a seasonal option

There are groomed cross-country skiing trails with scenic routes at and around the Vorauf holiday park. Conditions depend on snow and grooming. If you are considering cross-country skiing during your trip, check conditions before setting out.
